I've been working on this on-again/off-again for a long time.

In the end, the hardest part was the paint job.

If there's interest, I chronicled how I made it and can post it up at some point.

I still want to build some "handlebars" for it, but you get the idea.

The wind blows it around a lot (go figure), so I didn't get too many poses and ideas in today. I'll try to get out in the sunlight with the Glider tomorrow and see how it photographs.

My cat Odysseus approves (or maybe secretly wants to knock it off the counter and watch it "fly"...)

i want to know how you did the harness thing....only thing that's keepin me from starting mine....

The black part against his back is balsa wood painted black to provide stability.

The harness straps are elastic bands from Michael's. I cut two equal lengths and super glued them in an "X" formation onto the balsa wood. I cut a tiny slit in each where they crossed and put in a "brad" in antique copper.

To be honest, I think I put a bit too much of the Elastic, but it can be "tightened up" by cinching and super gluing it.

How I Did It:

First off, got all my supplies together:

-Foam Core Board
-Paper (for patterns & sketches)
-Pencils/pens, kneaded eraser
-Scissors
-Tape (for mistakes)
-Exacto Knife and extra blades
-Straight edge ruler
-Measuring tape
-Spray Paints (I used Black Mountain spray paints from an art store. Their "Light Blue" was PERFECT for Cobra Blue. Also used black, naturally.
-Sideshow figure (for scale)

Sketch out an idea of what I wanted. I know that my glider isn't technically "size correct" compared to the 3 3/4" Viper Glider, but the figure would not have been able to stand on his own, so I resized it to be a bit more realistic in my eyes. In the sketch, I was figuring out exactly what proportions would be appropriate. Final wingspan ended up being 19" on the angle from tip to top flat part, and an extra 6 1/2" across the flat part over the head. Total wingspan: approx 41-inches.
