Those posters are pretty bad... or is it fatigue? :lol
Anyway, I'm down for some more Thor. Although I didn't really like how Ragnarok (the end of the frigging world!) was handled, I just enjoy Hemsworth's and Waititi's goofyness.

I’m not saying everything is a failure or doing badly, just that if you listen to people on these boards you get a sense of tiredness with the same things, I’ve got friends who are moving on and say it’s becoming boring. There are articles popping up here and there commenting on it. Marvel is like Pixar they have a built in core audience, but even with Pixar they got to the point where they did stumble a bit and needed to mix it up a little (just a little).
It is just the lull in between movies. The cynicism kicks in or some site needs some click bait. Shang Chi and The Eternals are the bottom of the barrel and they still made bank. We are in the sequel run of Spidey, Strange, Thor, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Guardians and Ant-Man. Lots of bank to be made with all of those and Blade/F4 is the new characters everyone will be kicking the door down for when they release.

I'm in this boat - there's too much now and for the most part the overall quality of phase 4 has been disappointing - I wish the MCU ended after Endgame. I understand why Disney have kept it going though as they've got to milk the cow.

I've personally just accepted what I love as part of my own headcanon (No Way Home) and ignore what I don't. I think following Infinity War/Endgame (an overarching story across the first three phases which felt far more focused), Phase 4 has kind of become an anthology- and I think it makes going about this mental process much easier. For now, the connections are far less overt, especially from TV to movie.

Yeah, that is basically how i'm treating it, but watching very few things. DS2 and maybe T4 (pending normal audience reviews) - the days of opening day viewings (other than NWH) are over, Alas.

The Batman trailer first 24 hours: 31 million views.

Thor 4 first 24 hours: 209 million views

The fans were looking for Korg and Miek. And pamphlets. Lots and lots of pamphlets.

One thing you can say for Taika, his writing is funny and the actors look like they are having fun working with his scripts and it's why he seems to get such a large brand name cast around his projects so often.

Part of the bonus for Ragnarok and Guardians Of The Galaxy is both films are successful in part because the characters can laugh at themselves and we can laugh with them. There's only so much grim people can handle. I meant fat PTSD nerfed Thor in the last Avengers film was just too much for me.

This is why DC movies are too overwhelming for too many fans. Don't get me wrong, I don't want them to just carbon copy Marvel, but the grim constant on the edge dystopian like tone is not escapism. Sadness porn is like real porn - only in moderation.

I agree. I do t why dc think all there heroes need to be Batman . The dc universe isn’t grim dark whatsoever. Just gotham. I’d argue marvel is darker cause it takes place in the real world .

Peter III of Russia: I don't want to kill you. You're not a bad person.
Catherine the Great: I could kill you. You are a bad person.

Peter III of Russia: Would you like mine? It matches your hair. Just happy to be happy together, is it not?
Catherine the Great: It is marvelous – you are marvelous. You gave me a bear and have ceased punching me. What woman would not be happy?

The trick to fringe licenses like Shang Chi and Eternals is finding someone like Yorgos Lanthimos ( The Great, The Lobster, The Favourite) Someone who just punches out good interesting dialogue and brings even mundane type characters to life. If people are oversaturated with the Marvel heroes and the MCU, then Shang Chi and Eternals should have tapped into the kind of satire that Lanthimos brings to the table.

The problem with Eternals wasn't that it was a Kirkland Signature brand version of Thor/Captain American/Iron Man/etc, it was ignoring the interesting elements of any large collective. There is no reason why the Eternals couldn't have been the working class C team version of the Avengers and everyone knew it.

The Great is an incredible show, because it has fun. It wants to have fun. It wants you to have fun. It's not trying to be Xerox of what made money before. Guardians of the Galaxy hit deep with fans because it's fun.

Sure you can have grim ugly themes like in CA2 Winter Soldier but the world building was set up for the Russo Brothers already. With something like The Eternals, you are starting from scratch, you have to make your audience care about these people.

Elle Fanning and Teen Bop version of Hank McCoy aren't even all that great as actors. But the writing is so good it lifts them up. It's like Feige forgot that you just need to tell a good story first.

Anyway, for those where The Eternals makes you want to take a nap, watch The Great instead.

I'm completely done watching MCU movies moving forward. From now it's only the films the preceded Endgame on blu ray.

If enough people say it's good I will. That is why I watched the new Batman movie. I thought it was OK, worth seeing once at least.
All you need is my superior opinion and DS2 will be awesome. If you want a goofball time, see Thor: Jane is My Daddy Now.

While I respect Ragnarok as a well made movie, it wasn‘t the take I wanted either on Planet Hulk or the Norse mythology. It wasn’t my cup of tea. I did really enjoy Valkyrie, though.

I’m not excited about this movie because, again, although I respect that Chris Hemsworth has some great comedic chops, jokey Thor ain‘t for me. Maybe a little humor here and there but not making that the main ingredient. Anyway, I’ll see TLT and try to enjoy it for what it is. But tbh I’m more looking forward more to Jay Oliva and Zack Snyder’s Twilight of the Gods, which will be more up my ally I think.

Oh, btw I love GotG and GotG Vol. 2. I love Hellboy. It depends on the characters involved, I guess. I think it’s just the Thor comic characters that I want to see treated in a bit more serious way.
