I'm really curious to see how Skinner plays into all this.

My guess is ultimately same as he always does, feels a lot like when he made the deal for the cure for Scully's cancer. I like that he's an ally but always in positions where he has to play good with both sides for the greater good.

Yeah, you're most likely right on there.

All I know is that these new episodes make me appreciate how great the first few seasons really were. Might have to binge watch some classic X-Files this weekend.

It certainly wouldn't make my top list, but overall I enjoyed it. I read an interview with the director that when this episode was put together, he wasn't aware that this other conspiracy group he included would be introduced in My Struggle III, so it became a continuation of mythology without intending to be a mythology episode.

I can't make heads or tails of any of it. It's not that it's overly cerebral or anything, it's just not very engaging. I'll watch it cause it's short and not a huge commitment but it really seems like a convoluted mess.

I liked tonight's episode :)

Next week's episode looks fun too :D

Definitely looking forward to the wacky fun of next week's episode.

I quite liked this week's, it was a cool plot with the hang man game and the twins, and it was nice to see Mulder and Scully start to get past whatever came between them. If Gillian is truly done, I would want the series to go out with them together as they should be.

An older episode of X-Files was on and it blows away the newer ones. These new ones have too many cuts. Longer shots really build the suspense. I seen a preview for the next episode and this wacky crap just turns me away. Hollywood likes to go back and ruin classics.

Wacky episodes are not new for the X-Files. While the majority are serious, they’ve had their share of light hearted too and the next episode looks like a classic “fun” episode.

Comparing the newest seasons to the older, I would agree that the new ones feel cut at a faster pace, but I don’t think it necessarily makes them bad episodes, just different, but even season 6 or 7 compared to 1 or 2 feels different.

I think the new seasons feel like a lot of other shows running now and the contrast of watching a show that originally ran 25 years ago in modern style is a big contrast. If the show actually aired for 25 years, we’d have seen a slow evolution towards this, but leaping from 2002 to 2016 and 2018 is a lot of subtle change over time that we didn’t get.

I tried. I gave the new season a chance. But it's doing nothing for me. I'm just gonna skip it and tune in for the season (series?) finale and see how (if?) it all ends.

Was NOT happy about the cliffhanger last time and even less happy about how they "resolved" it.

This starts on telly in the UK soon, the adverts have started for.
Can't wait to see it. Ive always loved x files, especially Gillian Anderson :drool.
x :peace

Just caught the 3rd episode. I thought it was a nice vintage-esque standalone. Great Mulder/Scully interactions throughout.

And ehhh, did the episode leave us with the impression that they were about to do some ****in'?

Yes, the video implies they're back together, or at least sharing moments together, it seemed clear before Mulder woke up that they'd slept together the previous night.

What a freaking embarrassment.
What a piece of garbage. What a stupid idiotic cringey pathetic episode...

This is one of the worst episodes i have ever seen.....
That guy with the glasses is probably the worst chatacter i have ever seen on this show

Agreed. Plus the liberal agenda to stick it to Trump is ridiculous. Sad!

I enjoyed it just fine. Could be I'm easily pleased when it comes to this show now, sorta just glad to see it back on. I wish Gillian Anderson hadn't already said that this will be her last involvement, that was kind of a buzzkill at the outset.
