Center of the front row for me.

*I hate sitting in the very front row but I usually do on opening night so that way I don't have to worry about some jerk sitting directly in front of me. :lol

I like sitting closer. It's more immersive (and you usually get less people around). Esp. opening week. The new theaters are great w. the lounge seats. Don't usually do the front row tho. I may have to re TLJ if I want to go opening weekend - waited too long to get tickets.

The thrills are much better when the screen looks like a keyhole.

It's even better when someone doesn't focus the camera or is playing the wrong version and everything looks double even with your 3D glasses. Thankfully someone fixed it right as I was getting up to b***h about it.

There's something to be said for home viewing.

Just got back from Thor, finally (before anyone rides me, I have an 8-month-old at home; movies have become a luxury).

I really enjoyed it, though I do feel that it strayed a little too far into Guardians territory for my taste. While I LOVE Guardians, they were set up as being this somewhat unique thing within the overall grounded in reality MCU, and this was NOT grounded. Just wondering where this takes us going forward?

Immediate future: into the gritty Black Panther to Infinity Wars. Gonna assume from reading Coogler's comments he's taking things pretty seriously. Hadn't thought about it but BP is carrying all the weight of the U.S. social/political stuff; has to be a global crowd-pleaser; and tie in to Infinity Wars as well as introduce new characters and NOW it's gonna be looked at even harder after Thor and JL.

Yeah, I was pretty thrown by Thor 3's take; it HAD been reported as a lead-in to IW. Guess Feige figured it was a good time to switch it up because he knew BP would be a darker MCU movie.

What do you mean by "darker"???? That's RACIST!!!

:banghead:banghead:banghead:pow

There's reasons I'm thinking of seeing BP at a Monday matinee:monkey3:lol

Like, so I can pay attention to the STORY and cry if no Bucky-thawing. Sidestep any social-political stuff blah blah. IMO movies don't work or not based on skin color (although admit a film about Swedish artists, say, set in Sweden, would be kinda weird if everyone had a southern U.S. accent).

(PS. If there's a credit BP scene w. the camera *lovingly* focused on a glittering new vibranium arm, hand curling into a fist - hope Bucky's first action isn't to choke someone like the last time.:lol)

Well, the after-credits seem as if IW will LITERALLY pick up right from that moment. Or one shortly thereafter. Of course, the timeline is all f-d up after Spiderman anyways, though (I mean, did CW pick up so soon after AoU that the hadn't even moved into their new digs yet? Seems....odd).

I hope BP is more grounded, despite the more futuristic/colorful Wakandan setting. I feel like he deserves to be/needs to be in a grounded film. Same with Cap; he could've never driven a film like Ragnarok IMO.

Also, I may be late to the party on this, but

I really think BP is gonna be more grounded; gritty; mainly because Ryan Coogler has said so. That the greed for vibranium mirrors an going real-life issue w. the conflict over the metal coltan https://moviepilot.com/p/marvel-black-panther-mirrors-real-life-issues-africa-coltan-vibranium-conflict/4378331

Plus conflicts over ideology. Not that this won't be a PG movie. But it won't be Ragnarok either.

Re the SFX didn't notice the issue you did. I probably will on BR and find it annoying as IMO that's pretty basic to check for. Did notice some stuff here and there. Guess for me the biggest annoyances were some too-frenetic CGI fight scenes and parts of the soundtrack that I thought were *meh*.

But overall for me there was so much good - had a great time at my views. I keep thinking while some resent this film for the humor, that humor is one of the hardest things to do. LOL I am totally ignoring the *FUBAR* timeline presented in Homecoming. Someone should have caught that too and made stuff more generic. So I'm just gonna ignore it.:monkey3

Oh yeah, definitely enjoyed it. There were definitely a few LOL moments. I think my favorite was Korg. Just a hilariously played character. Oh, and playing the Willy Wonka song in the tutorial on Sakaar. That was great :)

I don't think it would end up in my top 5, but it was pretty close.
