Quite simple actually. You basically energize one side of the cabinet support to be positive and the other side to be negative. And from there, just connect your LEDs by using a clip, at any level that you need on both sides.

I might do a writeup on how this is done soon. Just lacking photos.

I've done this as well except I connected the wires on the top and bottom to the screw/nuts that connect to the wire shelving. PixelPiper is to thank in my case.

I would love to give this a go, can someone share some pics or do a write up please?

I did follow through and use the vinyl channel to better direct the Dioder lighting although I didn't slip it over the glass shelving like I thought I would. I found when it was slipped over the glass, it opened up the channel and took away some of the angle I was going for. I ended up using thin, clear Velcro tape to mount the vinyl channel and mount the light strips to the channel; I used Velcro so I could easily replace the light strips if they burnt out. After mounting all the lights I ran the wires down the hinge-side of the Detolfs and out the front, hiding the white wires with black corrugated wire wrap...or whatever it's called.

I don't have much to share as far as part numbers:

1) Ikea Dioder lighting...I put one strip per shelf, which is a taste thing.
2) Thin, clear Velcro purchased at Home Depot...I purchased a 15 ft. spool so it could be cut to length and it's cheaper than buying the little squares and cutting it up; the "thin" part means there's not a lot of material between the parts you have stuck together...it has a low profile (if that makes sense).
3) Vinyl Channel. I tried searching for it online but had no luck; it's located in the paneling section and would probably be used for bathroom paneling.
4) Small (tiny) cable ties.

Here's what it looks like from the front of a Detolf:

I know this is from forever ago but do you know what that angled channel is? I can't find it anywhere at Home Depot

Does any one recall someone posting a clear plastic that wraps around the vertical detolf post to hide the wires?

Just a heads up for all UK (although you may get them elsewhere), The RANGE is doing meter long strips of LED BATTERY LIGHTS

Looks like ikea have discontinued the dioder light strips. Think the puck version is still available but out of stock. Bummer

Yeah I just noticed that as well. I talked to someone there who said they were going to be getting some new and supposedly more "efficient" versions in February, but who knows how different they may be from what we've been using.

Wishing now that I had gotten a couple extra packs the last time I was there. :(

Question: I know aluminium profiles are used with LED strips as a heat sink, but if I install them without a profile on the poles of the detolf, would the poles act as a heat sink?

Yup.. i believe they did... I was at IKEA recently and the space that had the strips was bare.
I just bought a 4th Detolf and wanted to keep the lighting uniform so I had to go to eBay and pay out the nose ... sadly

Sorry for the noob question, but why not use wireless lights? There's a lot of them around. Here is one I found quickly on Amazon

So now that dioder's are unavailable does anyone know any equivalent alternative? I remember seeing a post from someone who sold their own versions but cant seem to find the post.

Isn't the OMLOPP similiar to the dioder if not a little stronger? It's 3000k vs 2700k

I would not recommend www.barlighting.com I bought a dioder set from them and its crap. The dimmer on it is sporadic the lights are not that bright. Their website is "down for maintenance" so had to file a claim with paypal to return this thing.
