Re: 1/6: Doctor Who 9th Doctor, War Doctor, Bad Wolf project

By the way, I made an actual felt fez for my War Doctor. I need to get my 11th Doctor out and see if it fits him :)

Re: 1/6: Doctor Who 9th Doctor, War Doctor, Bad Wolf project

The first cast of Bad Wolf Rose came out beautifully and I'm glad I roto cast it or else it would never have fit on the body. It's just resting on the shoulders for now until I get a chance to heat it up a bit and work with it some more. I can see what I need to do if I get to tweak the sculpt for a version 2 such as narrowing the bridge of the nose a bit. I'm fine with it for now since I can do that with a bit of sandpaper. Now that I have some experience sculpting a girl, I'm hoping to do better on my next attempt.

Not the reference picture I used, but I thought this looked cool side by side:

Thanks! I lucked out in how I sculpted the hair since I had to guess how it would fall on the body. The back fits perfectly and just a slight more bend to the front will let it sit more naturally on the neck. I can't wait to paint her up.

Re: 1/6: Doctor Who 9th Doctor, War Doctor, Bad Wolf project

I did a quick and sloppy paint job on a second cast just to see how it would look. I also moved the braid (it's a separate cast ;))over a bit and I think it works well here. I'll take more time on a second paint up, but I just needed to see some paint on this sculpt.

Re: 1/6: Doctor Who 9th Doctor, War Doctor, Bad Wolf project FINISHED

I just noticed that there has been over 2300 views of this thread since it began, yet only a handful of folks have commented on it. I know I'm the one that has probably viewed it at least a thousand times, so I know there are more folks that have viewed this yet held back from commenting.

So for all the lurkers that have not yet commented and have sorta liked what I've done, please post if you've enjoyed the journey with me and want me to continue further WIPs of any of my future sculpts.
Even though I do these sculptures because I'm having fun working on them, I get even more motivated if I know other folks are excited about it as well.

For the several of you that have posted, I thank you guys again so much for all your support!

You're quite right. You are magnificent. Its wonderful seeing the Doctor and his friends in such professional presentation and polished condition. You see some sculptures of the Doctors about, and they look nice, but yours absolutely "Get" them as it were. Personality and likeness. Perfect.
And Rose/The Moment is THE best representation of Billie I've ever seen tbh. The raw sculpt looked superb, but seeing it painted I actually said "Oh yes..." to myself. You've pulled life from it and sharped it beautifully.

Anywhoo, can NOT wait to see what you put together next!

Re: 1/6: Doctor Who 9th Doctor, War Doctor, Bad Wolf project FINISHED

You've done great! Most threads are the same-alot of views to comments, so I would not worry about that. I want to order all three sculpts for my wife but we can't right now, too much 1:1 stuff going on. Please keep up the awesome work.

Re: 1/6: Doctor Who 9th Doctor, War Doctor, Bad Wolf project FINISHED

Thanks tombaker369 and dwing. I really appreciate those comments and I wasn't really fishing for compliments, I was just curious to see if there are others out there that like seeing me post as I go along rather than just posting the finished pieces.
I appreciate constructive criticism as well, so if there are improvements to be made while I'm still sculpting, I'd love to hear it, since that's what allows me to improve. My wife was the one that actually suggested for me to widen Rose's eyes more, which really helped the sculpt out.
Also suggestions on which characters I should consider from the new series would help me narrow down who to sculpt next. I know River Song should be on the list ;)
I was also curious whether to have separate threads for future Doctor Who characters or just compile them all here.

Oh posting as you go along is seriously part of the joy. They're treats to see they really are. Makes a change from all the Heath Ledgers and other popular choices we see frequently here.
River would be SUPERB actually, all that hair would be quite a challenge.
I think other Doctors would be fab too. The obvious temptation is to suggest Tom, but he's a little obvious perhaps. Who you do next? There's a great temptation to say "Who knows".
But I won't.
What about Wilf? Donna's grandad. Bernard Cribbins is wonderful and has a great warm face too. Then there's Churchill, he'd be great fun to see.
Depends on how intensive you what the process to be, you could even try a Strax or Vastra. Something totally new.
Peter Davison being "my" Doctor, I would rather like to see him at some point...just sayin'

I think compiling them all here is a good plan though.

See, that's what I need! Great suggestions! I've never even considered any of those. Strax and Vastra would be an awesome challenge as it's been a long time since I've done any non-human sculptures.
When I get more suggestions, I'll probably make a list and get a majority consensus on which character to do. Right now Amy is on deck, but who knows whose next.

Re: 1/6: Doctor Who 9th Doctor, War Doctor, Bad Wolf project FINISHED

River would be interesting, Id also Love to see more of the Master...or Mistress. Also if you doing the characters from the 50th how about Paul Mcgann from Night Of the Doctor or Kate Stewart.
But there are also plenty of Doctors and companions from the old series that could use good head sculpts.

Re: 1/6: Doctor Who 9th Doctor, War Doctor, Bad Wolf project FINISHED

I would love to see Tennant with your talent. The BCS ones aren't that great. Keep posting the WIPs for sure!

Re: 1/6: Doctor Who 9th Doctor, War Doctor, Bad Wolf project FINISHED

I've been silently lurking in this thread because I liked your sculpt of the 9th Doctor, but I do love the in-progress shots. It's nice to see how things develop and change along the way. Rose looks great so far, and I look forward to seeing your take on Amy.

Re: 1/6: Doctor Who 9th Doctor, War Doctor, Bad Wolf project FINISHED

Thanks guys! Really digging the feedback.
Tekkaman Blade - Paul Mcgann did cross my mind and he would be fun to sculpt and acquire costume pieces for.
Mudblood - BCS one is great in person, but I wouldn't object to reinventing the wheel. It may have to be a bit lower down the list since it may be a bit difficult to get the right suit for him unless I do the bathrobe/pajama version :D.
Skizzoid - I'm glad you like 9. I'm actually thinking of doing the full wide smile version of him. I did some quick tests and I may be doing this along with Amy.
Here's the pic, and please forgive the roughness, since it was just a quick resculpt trial.

I'm hoping to do the more refined version of this mock-up.

No problem!
I actually think Strax would look SUPERB, especially in his Victorian butler outfit. I was actually thinking of mentioning Amy because I thought you'd do a fantastic job of it, but not sure why I didn't. Perhaps I knew your plans all along...

Got the heads, hope to start painting soon.

Re: 1/6: Doctor Who 9th Doctor, War Doctor, Bad Wolf project FINISHED

What vest and v-neck is that? Everything looks great!

Re: 1/6: Doctor Who 9th Doctor, War Doctor, Bad Wolf project FINISHED

The Vneck is from a barbie Ken, I dyed it red. It was originally grey.
The vest was a civil war one I found on ebay. I added buttons, I think I posted list earlier in the thread.
