Great review Sallah.
I can't get over how sharp the sculpt is at 6"/7". I'm looking at my 18" one now and it doesn't seem like any if the details are lost on this. Also, the proportions actually look a little better than the 18". The silhouette of the head/cowl/neck seems better and less bulbous. Overall it looks fantastic. I can't believe they achieved the head underneath the cowl like their 1/4 version too.
I'll be buying a couple but I don't think I'll be painting them. I've painted models before and while black, yellow, gold and flesh shouldn't be too difficult, I'll end up just making a tacky mess when I go to actually handle them after they're painted. The soft PVC/rubber parts like the head and trunks are going to be a real ***** when it comes to getting the black to adhere to it. I'm just going to bide my time until NECA is allowed to make a regular version whether it's a year, 3 years or a decade. I really doubt this is the last we'll see of this '89 sculpt, tool. They'll use it again some day ala Robocop. For now, the video game version colors will do. I don't mind the whacky presentation, especially with the cool box art.

Those pics look good. I wasn't planing to get it, but the sculpt is very good. How do change the color of the cape to black? I'm thinking about using matte black spray paint for the body and cowl. Glossy black paint for the boots and gauntlets. Gold and yellow for the belt. A silver marker or paint for the studs inside the gloves, but I have no idea how to change the cape's color.

Yeah, after Sallah's review I'm surely gonna get this, it's awesome, like he says, it's practically a model kit, just repaint it.

For those wondering what the head sculpt looks like under the mask, I took a few pics while getting one ready for customization. 
Unlike the 18", the head sculpt is only fully formed in the face area. The back of the head features a notch to keep the cowl in place-

Day 2 progress on the NECA 7" Batman repaint. Almost there now! Probably won't have time until after Halloween to finish though... NECA truly hit a home run on the sculpting & articulation with this guy!

I wonder since NECA can't officially release movie version if some clever Chinese knock-off company will get the mold and start casting their own movie version. They did it with the TMNT figures with cartoon colored masks.
