Re: Elvis1976 custom's•DENGAR•STARKILLER•MYTHOS OBI WAN•BIKER SCOUT•CHEWBACCA

I had no clue that the hairy Chewie was just on a wire armature till one arrived yesterday. Kinda weird.

yea it sucks...............but you almost need to build a body just as thin as those damn wires due to the effing fur suit.....:cuss

Re: Elvis1976 custom's•DENGAR•STARKILLER•MYTHOS OBI WAN•BIKER SCOUT•CHEWBACCA

Yeah, the orginal Chewie figure is complete garbage... but the fur is a very nice quality and I haven't found a better replacement. Most faux fur is very stiff looking when you get into this scale, I've had a number of kinds that looked good at the store and like total *** on a figure :lol

Re: Elvis1976 custom's•DENGAR•STARKILLER•MYTHOS OBI WAN•BIKER SCOUT•CHEWBACCA

Did you guys just cut the stitching to get it off the body?

I should have a second on the way today. Was two enough?

I'm thinking of trying to grab this OTC 12" Chewie for the Bowcaster, which looks to be an upgrade over the other versions:

Re: Elvis1976 custom's•DENGAR•STARKILLER•MYTHOS OBI WAN•BIKER SCOUT•CHEWBACCA

I think I ended up just cutting the suit where the wires went into the hands and feet, everywhere else it just kind of peeled off.

I went the suit route rather than individual gluing and had to sew length to the torso, forearms and legs... not too bad for the amount of work.

Re: Elvis1976 custom's•DENGAR•STARKILLER•MYTHOS OBI WAN•BIKER SCOUT•CHEWBACCA

I'm going to go Seb's route, though I know this is a big step up in terms of custom work for me.... Maybe I should just go back to drawing? :lol

Re: Elvis1976 custom's•DENGAR•STARKILLER•MYTHOS OBI WAN•BIKER SCOUT•CHEWBACCA

Been working on the designs for a "Stop Motion" style armature rig for my Chewie.

I had at first intended to use a Predator body, heavily modded of course, but I've thought better of it when it comes down to the mighty Chewbacca.

Also been working on a rig in the same mindset for my own Jabba the Hutt figure which I could re-use for other Hutt projects.

The next couple of years are going to be very interesting.

Really cool Chewy Elvis. I don't care for "real hair" on characters myself, but with Chewy I think you are kind of stuck if you want to pose him with other clothed figures, as you say. Otherwise he'll just look really out of place.

Back from Holiday.

Some progress on Chewie.
Hands are done and I reduced the size of his forehead. Looks way better indeed.

I quickly put the hasbro bandolier to take some pics and I plan on reworking the crossbow.

Next Han Solo.
Basically all SS clothing.
He is on a TTM19 body with narrow shoulder arms.
I also reduced the thickness of the neck by Dremelling the inner socket.

Head is enterbay with the hair dremeled on the side and resculpted too look less puffy.

Re: Elvis1976 custom's•DENGAR•MYTHOS OBI WAN•BIKER SCOUT•CHEWBACCA•HAN SOLO

I used the kotobukiya chewie bandolier and crossbow for mine

Re: Elvis1976 custom's•DENGAR•MYTHOS OBI WAN•BIKER SCOUT•CHEWBACCA•HAN SOLO

Well I will have a real leather bandolier and bag.
I will custom build the crossbow. Don't want to spend that money just for a bandolier and crossbow.

Re: Elvis1976 custom's•DENGAR•MYTHOS OBI WAN•BIKER SCOUT•CHEWBACCA•HAN SOLO

Because I always listen to advices here is some other configurations for Solo.

First I switch the narrow shoulder arsm with slimm tt arms.
Proportions looks indeed better.

Here's 3 look, ESB, ROTJ and ROTJ Endor.

My preference would go for ROTJ.

YUP and it looks pretty bad, don't know if they are all like that.

Re: Elvis1976 custom's•DENGAR•MYTHOS OBI WAN•BIKER SCOUT•CHEWBACCA•HAN SOLO

To be honest I thought yours looked a lot better than mine so i was wondering how much of that was due to the slim TT arms. Is that 100% un-modded?

null_zpsd50f1028.jpg

This is on a NSTT. I jut assumed the midsection of the NSTT was about the same as the TT19, but I guess not.

Re: Elvis1976 custom's•DENGAR•MYTHOS OBI WAN•BIKER SCOUT•CHEWBACCA•HAN SOLO

Mmmh yes indeed, your looks so thight.

The NSTT is about the same at the mid section more or less.
I used slim arms on mine though.

Damn, and you can't believe how much I futzed it just to get it to look that good (or bad, as the case my be).... :(

I'll try the slim arms and see how it turns out...

I know it's an old item but man, it's pretty horrible. Even worse when you look at the way it fit Ford in the film:

Too bad we don't have more 1/6 tailors around that are willing to take on custom runs. This would be a prime choice.

:lol:lol and mine is completely unfutzzed.
I did one small thing ust now is glue the paocket so that they look flatter and more natural. I might darken the blue a bit more.
