I would say it was bad luck if you did not get the EX and you wanted it.

I do think that it is a bit unfair for those who were at work and such. But oh well the Reg is the Real EX anyways ;)

It will be fairly easy to tell if they boost the Ex, and if they do this will probably be the end of the road for me. The point someone brought up about the Gollum PF still has a bad taste in my mouth. I can already see an exclusive "hoth edition" just for SDCC folks.

The only thing sideshow should increase is the amount of bases in the exclusive. I "do" want a combined base included as well. I do like the idea of separate bases, but I think if you have the room, the combined is the way to go. I would be happy with the same base the separate ones have(no sand). Get on it sideshow!! :monkey1

My two cents on the which is better argument :lecture

Regular screams what we watched in the movies which is awesome in its own right :duff

Exclusive is IMO a classier display. :thud:

Either way its a win win :wave

If you compare these to the terminator endo bust, I recall people coming up with ways to polish the battle damage off of them. But, I do not recall people trying to "weather" chrome. :wink1:

The price point sucks, but pretty much what I was expecting personally. These were in development for what seems forever so I figured they would be pretty detailed.

Seems SS is going to have a lot of unhappy customers either way. Make the few hundred people who got to order the EX happy, or make the hundreds happy on the WL. Which makes more $$ in the end, especially with no announced ES. :dunno

I think I will cancel my WL

these photos did it for me.

I love the look of both but the base is just much better on the reg. 3PO looks like he will shine just fine on the reg edition so I really can't think of any reason to get the ex. - Well except that the paint could get messed up on the weatherd version.

The reg looks more like an official maquette to me also.

The exclusives make for nice "museum displays" of the droids but with my other PF's the regular looks like it will match up much better. For instance Frodo on his dusty Moria base and Captain America on his sandy WWII base. Droids in the desert will continue that theme as opposed to two pristine figures on a polished marble floor.

I ordered the regular locally and am on the waitlist for the exclusive, which I have decided to also keep, if it comes through. I will be cancelling my LOTR pre-order though.

I have thought the same thing. I have a dirty Indiana Jone from TOD a Bloody Conan and a cut up / harpooned JAWS. I also will be getting the dust Hulk maquette so yes the dirty droids fit better.

I will have a clean Joker and Batman though.

I know the droids are reversed from that one famous promotional shot but for those going to CVI you can have Daniels and Baker sign these two Official Pix photos to display behind the PF's.

No excuses. Everone owns an iPhone now and could have gotten the EX, even from work! :)

I'll say more than a "bit" it was completely unnecessary and unjustifiable not to have a reveal.
SS let your customers look what you have to offer and make a conscious decision of which one they prefer and wanted.

After all this was not a matter of small print or one switch out part.
We could have had a reveal just like other PF (Joker, Skaar, Baroness etc.) then you have at least one day to fully gauge your best option according to your preference- display bases or looks of droids, instead of the madness from yesterday.

That would be true if Sideshow had announced the time they were going up for pre-order. Not everyone checks their email or surfs the web on their phone every 5 minutes.

And I'll never understand why you would want to separate these two iconic buddies, who were always seen as a "duo", unless crazy circumstances split them up.

I'll never understand why people don't understanding liking one over the other or want to pose one with a different character. Just because they are friends and a "duo" doesn't mean that people need to collect them as such. Han and Chewbacca were always together unless crazy circumstances split them up that doesn't mean I'd be happy if they shoved a $400 Han PF and a $500 Chewbacca PF in one box on one base and sell it for $1000 as a set.

$800 for two figures IS steep, however you cut it. I haven't ordered yet, but I'll think long and hard about it. I would love it if they gave us more information on them, like exactly how many point of articulation they have.

This ain't Hot Toys, it's a statue. There is limited articulation but it's not meant to be a figure.

BS! When it's TBD it should give you the chance to think about it for at least a little bit. I got the e-mail a little late and by the time I went back and forth with the reg to compare, it was gone. Not to mention that not everyone as you say, has an iPhone. Not even close.

People have been begging for the Droids since the line's inception in 2005. Something like, the same as Chewbacca anything, especially the first one should have gone in a PPO so all collectors had a chance.
