~~Does anyone know when QMX is going to release the Viper??

From the QMx facebook page:

BSG Fans: We're doing an interview next week with Edward James Olmos about his time on BSG and his thoughts on the "Adama Edition" of a certain upcoming QMx product. Have questions for the Admiral? Post 'em here and we'll see if we can work them in!

So I'd say we should expect pre-order news pretty soon.

And it'll probably be quite expensive, rumors are it'll cost $1,200

Given the previous couple of BSG artisan models, that is in fact the price I'm expecting. With luck that will even be the RRP, with a hopeful discount for pre-orders, like I got with Serenity.

If that brings it down to around $1000, then there's a massive chance I'll be getting it. My fear was a price in the range of $1800, in which case it would have been a pass.

So Sideshow cancelled the Big Damn Replica orders today - guess they got tired of waiting.

So do I order direct? Hmm.

Well, they do have a fairly long build time and I guess QMx make there own orders first.

That aside, I'm not sure why one would buy it via SS, if you wanted it and am in the US.

The QMx direct price is $200-300 cheaper, you can still get a payment plan (if in the US) and best of all, you can select your own customise options, rather then the default standard which was your only option via SS.

I finally found a reasonably priced display case to put our BDR in, and it arrived today. :yess:
It's an acrylic case (23x13x13) that sits on an MDR base. The base is basically particle board, and comes unfinished, so I still need to paint it. I'm thinking I might actually use plaster and create some sort of "diorama base".
Here's a really "quick and dirty" photo I took. Once I start putting a finish on the base I'll take some better pictures.

Indeed, that is a beautiful replica. It's a shame i'm a Millennium Falcon focus collector as i'd be all over this. :(

Maybe one day QMX will get a Star Wars licence.

looks great. where did you find that case?

Here's a link to the place I found the case:

I got one that was 23x13x13, but they make dozens of different sizes. I am really impressed with the build quality of the case, and the price was lower than anything I've been able to find before.

Here's how it turned out after painting. I really debated about how extravagant to get with the paint, but I decided to just keep it simple. The ship is the focus, not the base. I drilled a hole through the MDR base so I can run the power cord up to the ship, but I don't have it plugged in at the moment.

ouch. $1499 is a lot of bones. :(

Looks like I'll have to start selling stuff to finance this. I want 2 vipers darn it :(

Most likely not at this stage. I'd be looking at around $2k by the time I got it in hand and Serenity was going to be my only big buy.

If there no discount, then there's no real reason to buy now. So I'll wait it out, see if it shows up cheaper anywhere and if not, then o'well. I'll just end up spending all the money on getting a number of other things.

Okay. Just took the dive and ordered Serenity. I've been rewatching the show on blu-ray and just could not resist any longer. So...estimated summer 2011 completion. Anybody have any experience with Qmx and their timetables?
