the "is this movie any good" thread

I thought this would be a good thread to make for people who haven't seen movies and don't know if they're worth renting or buying. Or if you don't know what dvd editon to get of a certain movie you post your questions here and anyone who's seen the movies can give you their opinions.

Can someone tell me is Night of the Demons any good? My sister works at a FYE and they have it for $10 and I don't know if I should buy it. And is Cannibal holacaust good? I heard it was scary.

I'd say a huge no to both, and would even go so far as to say that Cannibal should only be viewed for shock value purposes, which by todays standards aren't nearly as bad as they were.

It's not terrible, its just a run of the mill, cliche 80s horror film. It's worth a watch once, but not for $10.

I genuinely hate Cannibal Holocaust. And I don't say that about many movies.

I echo the sentiments of others here, Cannibal Holocaust was not good. The whole film was about shock value (by today's standards it's a tad tame) and frankly I just got fed up with the terrible story, poor quality of it quite early on in my viewing. I did watch the whole thing, but I just didn't really care for it.

Well I saw it in Imax and still thought it was mediocre at best, Keanu was good though.
