PG-13 Here. And I don't know what impression the previews gave, but atleast in the showing I was at there were a ton of kids with their parents. They probably thought that the film would be in the same vibe as the "Lego Movie".

Idk I feel like some animated movies have worse language and stuff like sexual innuendo

I ended up seeing this twice with two different groups... still haven't seen Oppenheimer but that's next.

I enjoyed the movie, it was fun, acted well and has a good message. I think people should give this one a chance if they haven't yet. You might be pleasantly surprised.

Lots of girls dressed in pink and either blond or with blond wigs taking selfies both in and out of a giant life-size Barbie action figure box at the theater tonight. Me and a buddy were watching Mission Impossible but I must say it was fun seeing girls be so excited about a movie especially on a random Tuesday night. Some of them were even dragging their dates into the big Barbie box for "couples" photos. Silly yes but fun to see nonetheless.

Yes. I now see what you meant about going to Oppenheimer opening night. All the girls in groups and girls with their dates being so excited just made it straight up fun to be at the movies.
I relate this to my 1989 Batman craze.

I love the Barbie hype train. It felt like movies were dying off to be honest, but it just goes to show that people still want to go to the theater if you give them a desirable product.

I think the film is ok for kids. The adult jokes will go over their heads. There's no bad language or nudity. In the 80s and 90s, this film would be PG.

In 1975, a movie called JAWS was rated PG and there was full nudity, gnawed off body parts, and people getting eaten alive by a giant shark.

The good ol' days...

Saw this yesterday, I thought it was pretty great, very funny and well made. The end drags a bit but other than that I have no complaints (though the bleach blonde that Ryan Gosling has does not suit him at all)
I think it's fair that films like this are made pretty targeted to women, we have movies like The Expendables or whatever, they can have their girly movie. It's entertaining enough that most people will enjoy it and it's great that there's stuff like this out there.
