It's frustrating because they're constantly on the very cusp of delivering outstanding products, and I feel like the new Mr. Asmus does a great job listening and communicating updates... I want to support them, especially because of their dedication to the franchise, but it's hard to spend money on stuff that always has some defect or conceptual oversight.

My turn of the tide was long ago, 2018, with that Frodo v2 pale head with dead brown eyes -- while they kept the cheery sun-kissed head with big blue eyes as the sales photos on their website. And they told me that the 'dead' head was the new "improved" paintjob.

They did finally send me a replacement head 4 years later in 2022. The skin color was improved but the blue eyes remained with that strange brown star in the center that darkens the whole look.
That's pretty early, 2018.
After what happened with Tauriel, which they promised to send a replacement head but never know when (still have the conversation proof in my DM), I should have stopped purchasing asmus figures.
But I give them another chance, my mistake.
I ended up with deluxe Arwen, which, as Mitraheroe said, very disappointing in terms of art box, and on top of that, they violated the shipping option that they promised, and made the shipping to me so very expensive (which they also promised to fix via dm, but ended up not responding after I send them the whole details and data, I still have proof of it), in the end, the cost of that dx Arwen is almost the same as purchasing HT Iron Man mark 85.

So I stopped purchasing asmus figures after that, and I am very glad I did!!
Their Ash turned into disaster. Gandalf's grey eyes, different staff with no pipe holes, the hat.. etc, and now Gollum/Smeagol turned out this way!

Buying asmus products means you have to be creative in terms of fixing the problems. It's not a finished product.
I've been saying this for many times already, they are shady company that cuts corners.
But none of us want asmus to close, or quit. We all want them to do things right. Fix their mistakes, stop their shady practices and fulfill their broken promises.

And now, here, @Asmus read the msgs, but decided not to reply about the Gollum chameleon debacle. :(

Yeah… that’s not happening unless we join forces and file a lawsuit against them to force it.

It’d be a huge blow to the company if they had to take every Gollum back and issue full refunds; then good luck getting a decent Gil Galad after that shot essentially leaves them on life support, and forced to cut every corner imaginable to put something new out.

Sent a cancellation request to Asmus for Trish. Read @batsheva ‘s year old post on the Ash Willams thread about how Asmus never keeps the promises they make when fixing their constant issues. While their response may be genuine, they continue to make glaring issues one way or another and can’t seem to catch a break with destroying consumer trust. I’m sorry to say but this should be the final straw for anyone pre-ordering from this company when they clearly do not care about the quality of materials they’re gouging you for. Asmus makes it extremely difficult to want to support them for their unique offerings.

IMHO, they shouldn't release new products before fixing all the problems with their old ones.

And I have solid proof on everything I said, it's here in the private conversation thread between me and asmus.
In the end they just stopped responding to the msg after I attached all the data and details.

I do hope they make things right with Gollum/Smeagol issues here. At least before they release the new expression heads for Gollum/Smeagol.
And please don't force the affected buyers to purchase the new expression heads to get the new body.

You could make a good gollum at night display with the bue arms. Just paint the rest also a bit blueish.

UPDATE - I've sent the pics to Asmus and requested a full refund as replacement will obviously not be an option.
Got an immediate response that it is being 'discussed' with the relevant department.
My main worry is that these issues are now happening so regularly that Asmus doesn't really react any more and just factors these kind of problems in to any new release, and almost behave as if this is just perfectly normal.
Past experience would suggest they will just try to compensate with a discount off another purchase or maybe another weird little baseball cap!!
If that happens, I'm going to lose my **** :angryfist:

Wouldn't be surprised if they add replacement arms with torso with the 2 new headsculpts that they recently showed...
My seamless legs are also turning blue, so it's a whole new figure needed.
There's no way around this, no half-measures, they are going to have to replace the entire figure and that will also have the same problems.
They may as well just write it off and just start again from scratch.

Honestly, like all of us, I have a lot of love for this company and I want to support them, but letting them get away with this stuff time after time is not supporting them, it's just enabling them.
I don't want any replacement bits and pieces that will only ever look odd, I want my $300 back.

I'm holding on to my Sideshow pre-order of Smeagol for now, but I'm anxiously waiting for news of Asmus addressing this issue. Of course I'd hate for SS to ship me my Smeagol and then have it change colors in a few months, especially if Asmus doesn't make this right for anyone that is affected!

So the discolouration has nothing to do with sun light. It's whatever crap rubber/plastic materials they've used.
Absolutely nothing to do with exposure to anything, mine have been boxed since March.
And it's the torso on yours that has gone blue, but for me, it's the legs and arms, so basically the whole thing is garbage.

And I noticed you got the same reply from Asmus 10 days ago as I got this morning, that it's been referred to the relevant department, but you've heard nothing back in 10 days, right?

I'll say it again, I don't want any replacement bits and pieces that will just look even more weird, I want my $300 back.
What do you think, matrix?

It's been two wks since they replied to me. They said that they'll get back to me, but i'm going to contact them again tomorrow and see what the story is.
