What happens if people pay all these expensive prices for the rooted version and the rooted hair sucks?

The same this that always happens - you get stuck with a sucky figure. I took a chance on InArt Joker and I knew it was a huge gamble to throw a grand at a PO from a company that had never made a 1/6 figure before. However, they were an offshoot of Queen Studios and I felt confident between that and the prototype photos that they would be at least as good as the OG HT Joker that everyone was paying about the same amount for, so I took the gamble. I'm not sure why I feel like I'd be taking a bigger risk with HT but I don't think I'm going to bite on this one - especially given the price point. I gambled on IA and I'm really happy with it.

Looks like KGH will get rooted, despite the comments to the contrary. 4200HKD Even with shipping on top, that’s a lot cheaper than some have already paid.

Really ? Where did you get the info from ?

I think InArt put a far bigger dent in Joker sales -- especially at these prices -- then HT may have considered. Would also explain the "limited" nature of the sales.

That said, I'm sure HT did this more to show it could, so people will think twice the next time InArt puts something up from "HT's territory".

So inart sculpted was $346 on osk

VS $399 for hot toys

I do prefer hot toys sculpted hair over inart but I think I'll take inarts expression over hot toys

Thought they would have included and alternate laughing sculpt.

Yes a new laughing sculpt would be fantastic! I like the DX11’s but I would’ve liked to have seen a new one, given how far along they’ve come now.

Well hello beautiful! Looks like HT got their cage rattled:giggle:

I understood that reference :lol

[…]

I would have preferred a laughing sculpt again for one of the exspressions though, as it would've looked cool with rooted hair.

Yes! A new laughing sculpt would be great! Heck, maybe even a big grin head sculpt!

Kit just dropped the sculpted HT Joker. $399 including shipping.

So that means Sideshow’s is going to be exorbitantly nuts with MSRP + taxes + shipping. For a standard figure with ordinary techniques no less.

I remember thinking $185 for the DX01 was crazy, mostly because they didn’t include an extra body with the Honor Guard head and suit. That was what, 2009?

Then in 2012, I justified $275 for the interrogation table, lamp, chairs and backdrop.

$400 for a Joker with removable tongue. Insane. Yeah, I got the InArt rooted for $1000. But that was $1000 for TWO rooted heads, TWO bodies (with all new flesh magnetic arms) TWO whole outfits, a huge metal jail cell, a wooden base, a high gloss instruction manual (not the cheap little leaflets Hot Toys included) and an unboxing experience I will never forget. It felt premium, it felt like an experience taking all the weapons and accessories out of those individual white baggies.

DX01 - Introduction of PERS + Mob Joker + Honor Guard Joker
DX11 - Purple Joker + Second head + Interrogation scene display diorama

DX33 - removable tongue

Hot Toys didn’t even try to make it seem like there’s added value here. Each DX has less than the last. Can’t even display him with anything other than the purple jacket and purple gloves.

Kit tends to be higher priced for Hot Toys, but will see when all retailers list.

Except people won’t have to buy a 2-pack for $1300.

Lol true! I believe the consensus was that a single pack rooted figure would’ve been much more favorable. Though I went for the sculpted two-pack, and the initial PO price was roughly $700.

InArt may have Hot Toys beat by a touch but I think we're talking about an A- versus an A here. They're both quite incredible, and I don't think anyone will be able to say for sure if one is better than the other until someone has them both in-hand standing side-by-side. Probably the biggest thing the Hot Toys has going for it is they're not forcing people to buy a $1300 2-pack in order to get the rooted version.

Hot Toys doesn't mention it but I wonder if the feet and base are magnetized like InArt's.

Much agreed! I think it’s terrific we’re getting all these options! Though, it is a bit of a bummer HT’s haired version is going to be seemingly more limited.

I saw black suit Spider-Man on OSK for $25 more than MSRP at Sideshow, before taxes and shipping there. That's honestly going to be $15+ cheaper than getting it at Sideshow....

$400 at release for a regular sculpted figure from the company the size of HT, from any retailer, is just stupid.
