A couple of these pics are starting to make me rethink my views on this figure, but I still don’t know if it’s an upgrade on my NECA.

It doesn’t even come close to capturing the character as well as that Neca figure.
Definitely not an upgrade; just another ‘best we could manage’ attempt from Asmus.

Wow! Really? Have you ever owned either versions? I believe the paintwork is quite nice; right down to the subtle blue veins under the skin.
I did have the Gollum version and it was nice for it's time. As i remember the blue veins on the head weren't so subtle and looked more like they were drawn on with a felt tip marker.
The eye paint too was let down by the old style white dots painted on the pupils for the catch-light effect.

The little specks of paint on the body and hair colour looked great though, which is something the ASMUS version sadly lack.

Great pics. The first ones that I've seen that even come close to how these look in person.

I’m here to state my opinion of this release, which most won’t see as an contribution.

I think Asmus completely screwed up with this release. The seamless body has seems allover it, back of head has an ugly plate and its hair is composed of a few strands. Gollum has some lacking hair growth but comparing stills w figure, a large discrepancy is found. Agreed it’s very hard to accomplish a good rooting en masse for gollum. Don’t think anyone has been able to deliver on that, Weta’s MC was very close to perfection.

O K. In realtime, I looked up the prices for this. One can only deliver so much for $130. For that price, I guess it is somewhat alright of a release. For $270, nope. Wonder what Asmus could’ve done at a $400 MSRP. We’ll see if InArt is interested.

Asmus, your deluxe figures are usually stellar! Especially Gandalf the grey! Hope you release more of the line. Like a Lurtz………

These had an "Estimated to Ship" date of March 2023 - April 2023 until the start of April, when it was changed to April 2023. Now that it's May, they have an "Estimated to Ship" date of May 2023 - July 2023.

Ugh!
