CCBB is creepy? I don't see that. Just the Child Catcher.
Would people buy:
Augustus Gloop stuck in a chocolate pipe like the little **** he is?
Veruca Salt tearing through plastic wrappers like an insidious killer?
Violet Beauregard inflated into a purple blimp?
And a little tiny Mike Teevee that you could put on your own taffy-pulling machine?
Sadly, for me, the sculpt is not solid enough to warrant a PO. I know Mars can do better.

100% agree with this. Only got to look at Inart polls, people asking for the same stuff we've seen over and over.
With all the vehicles being made today I'm surprised no one has done a 1/6 Knight Rider that I know of.
Some of my wants have recently been filled, updated Star Trek, Universal Classic monsters, and Hammer Horror being the top two. But I'm still waiting on Highlander, I heard Iconiq might be tackling that one.

I find the whole of CCBB creepy, as with the original The Wizard of Oz, or probably any version of The Wizard of Oz.
There's good creepy, like Cesar Romero's Joker, and bad creepy that I'd rather have erased from existence, or at least from memory.
Speaking of Batman '66, I wish Mars had maintained their focus on it, and not diverged so quickly into making everything else under the sun.

I actually have love for a lot of older movies, especially ones in black and white. Though, the movies I love tend to not be the ones that are universally hive mindedly loved that a lot of folks here and in the custom world gather to.
I like this version well enough, but if I'm not in the mood for it, I can easily get bored of it. I do appreciate it though and understand why ppl like it. What I don't understand is why anyone thinks it's scary or creepy. I never felt that way about it. Weird, yes...but not scary or creepy.
With that said,...
You can't force ppl to like what you like. Larger companies at the official level don't think there's money in it, not enough at least. And the demographics for these figures continue to change from the older folks who would actually spend money on these "classics" die off with the younger and younger collectors coming in who don't care for those movies and prefer the next Iron Man, Batman, Mando figure. As the InArt rep has mentioned a few times already (or at the very least implied), in the grand scheme of things, some of the IP's that collectors think would sell a lot, just don't appeal to a large enough audience to sell in the numbers you need at an official, licensed compacity, regardless if they want to do them or not. The money doesn't seem to be there for official companies. And if you don't have the numbers, you need to increase the price. Then you have another problem on your hands of if those same amount of ppl who wanted said "classic" figure will still actually pay for it at that higher price.
The smaller companies like Mars can do this sorta stuff b/c they aren't paying any licensing fees, don't have to go through any sort of studio/actor approval, and are producing in much smaller numbers. And Mars can make a second batch if they see the demand and want to with no one batting an eye (like 66 Joker). It's praised when they do it. But the moment an official company does something similar, it's frowned upon and looked at as playing a FOMO game.

As for the rest. I fully understand how the game works. I simply said I "wish" people and companies would. Not that they should or must.
Larger companies actually could take on smaller IPs if they wished, they don't because they don't want to take chances.
Mars Toys doesn't pay licensing, but Kaustic Plastik and Iconiq certainly do. So it's not just a "only small companies can do it" type of thing. There's a interview that Sixth Scale Mafia did recently with a Rep from Iconiq where he details a lot of the ins and outs of getting the Street Fighter and American Psycho figures made and approved. And if smaller companies are tackling these other IPs and officially licensing them, then clearly there is money out there to be had for them.

Interesting. I see how CCBB could be creepy with the child catcher but otherwise I don't think it is. I find it pretty funny, even now.It's a creepy film, disturbing like Chitty Chitty Bang Bang or Eraserhead.
I've never understood how anyone could like it, let alone want collectables from it. However, I don't understand the fascination with most of the things on this forum. C'est la vie.
Again, being the outlier, I image I'm one of the few who enjoys CCBB more than Willy Wonka. Probably b/c I saw CCBB at a much younger age than I did Willy Wonka.
Much like you though, I don't understand the fascination with most of the things on this forum or the custom forum either. As much as ppl complain about same Superheroes and Star Wars constantly coming from official channels, the same can be said about the constant redo's in the custom world. Sooooo many Indiana Jones, Bill the Butcher, American Psycho, Joker (Ledger and Phoenix), John Wick, Neo, Mad Max, etc.
That's cool that Kaustic and iconiq has been able to crack in there with stuff folks like though that America Psycho figure seems to be taking a reeeeeeally long time to release. Production version looks ok enough though he was a little pricey if I remember correctly.
I'll be honest and say I don't pay too much attention to them though as what they're offering doesn't interest me from a purchasing standpoint. I really wanted the James Dean statue that Infinite Studio did (which I think is the same or at least sister company of KP) and the production quality was horrible and it turned me off of them. Same with the muscular bodies they made. All the ones I had were very loose and felt cheaply made. So, even if they make something I end up being interested in, I'd be hard pressed to actually order based on my own experience.

Iconiq's Ryu is a beast of a figure I was impressed. Their Street Fighter line and the upcoming Highlander are the onlys ones I'm interested in.
I have Kaustic Plastik's Bela Lugosi/Dracula figure. It's a excellent figure IMO, has alot of prescense, especially when I dress the room up around Halloween time. I currently have their Nosferatu and the Hammer Dracula two pack on preorder. Anxiously awaiting them.
Still no definitive Mad Max sculpt though. Not sure why that one is so hard. There's some good Indys finally as well as Daniel Craig and plenty of great Ledgers... but no good Gibson Maxs.

Have you seen the upcoming one from Beastmaster over at the alternative "custom" site? It's fantastic.
I think with Gibson it's a licensing thing. Just like Tom Cruise. I don't think we ever see an officially licensed character from either of them.
I've been admiring beastmaster's Max for many years. I'm still waiting...
I don't really care about licensed likeness.
I can't wait another 20 years for a "better" Wonka figure so this will be it, for me. A better head sculpt could be obtained in the future, if needed.

We've actually had at least one officially licensed Tom Cruise figure. It was the Medicom 1/6 MI: Ghost Protocol Ethan Hunt in Dubai climbing gear.
True. But my point was more that certain characters get multiple customs made (almost back to back at times) just as much as certain superhero characters from official manufacturers. When one run by a certain tailor/sculptor ends, another one for the same character begins from someone else.
