I guess I must like garbage then, as I've enjoyed the MI movies since Ghost Protocol - I don't think MI is even remotely comparable to the Fast & the Furious. That is the subjectiveness of movies.
I agree, MI: Fallout was one of the best action movies of the last decade!!! I became a fan of the first one just because of the video game tie in from the ps1 era part 2 and 3 were meeeh but for sure the series did a 180 turn around after those two a rarity in this industry, Fast & furious went from decent and took a massive nose dive into the WTF category.

I'll say this though the MI: Franchise really does push the bar on which realistic and insane stunt they can pull off, meanwhile other franchises see how much more CGI they can cram into a scene.
I can see you one day Cruise being groomed for a high level executive position at Paramount but I wonder how they would deal with a baby eating alien cult as their leader lol
I take it you never seen Tropic Thunder lololololol

Guys guys GUYS!!

I was freaking wrong about TGM failing with the music!

I wasn’t paying close attention to the music and just blew it off because I don’t pay attention to new music i’m an old fart dammit leave me alone lol

I was at a huge and amazing indoor water park with a DJ who announced the summer blockbuster TGM summer song by One Republic “I ain’t worried” from the beach scene and the entire water park went nuts dancing to it!!!

Guys I wish I filmed it but my phone was in a locker! :gah: I need to get the sleeve protector!

Anyways not only did everyone in the enormous wave pool start bopping to it so did everyone walking around the park!!!

It was literally an IW/EG audience participation moment holy crap!!!

Then I go read about One Republic and their song “Westcoast” is also spectacular!

Plus they sang other songs I have heard before but never bothered to look them up.

So NO TGM obviously still doesn’t possess the soundtrack from the original not even close but after that water park experience it does for me now and i’m driving around blasting it lol

Jesus this movie just keeps getting better and still surprising me after its release!

I honestly just blew that song off during the movie but man did it rock that park all the ripped dudes were doing that Miles dance which means I wasn’t lol

The singer thanked Cruise for giving them a 200 million dollar beach music video lol
For a second I literally thought you said that Bryan Singer thanked Cruise for giving him a 200 million dollar beach music video. :lol

Yeah I was in Target the other day and their electronic section had all their panel displays on the wall synced to play that Lady Gaga video of the song from the end of the movie. I was all oh that was Lady Gaga I guess the music in this movie was kind of a big deal, lol.

Dude it's still making over a million a day on weekdays.

At that rate it appears poised to surpass both the original Jurassic World's domestic and Titanic's cumulative domestic (screw that "initial release" nonsense, lol) and then will be nipping at the heels of...wait for it...INFINITY WAR's domestic. :google :thud: :google

Lightyear's most recent weekend gross: $713,675.

Maverick's earnings on...Monday: $1,503,127.

I will say though I do not want to see a sequel to this it was so perfect just leave it be although of course a bad sequel would do nothing to ruin this.

As much as Paramount is going to push for it I don’t think Cruise will do it.

Unless Cruise becomes all ROTJ Harrison Ford like and wants to kill off Maverick lol

Or am I wrong and we do need TG Empire Strikes Back lol

TGM is ESB. TG is a New Hope. What you'd get is TG ROTJ where Maverick is bested by accident by a temporarily blinded pilot... ;)

TGM has now officially passed the total domestic of Titanic including all of its re-releases and is now approaching the domestic earnings of Infinity War?!?

It also just passed the global earnings of BP and every single Harry Potter film. :thud:

Lightyear has been a flop of epic proportions.

Lightyear International Gross = US$215m
Minions International Gross = US$643m

Adding Top Gun: Maverick would just be too embarrassing.
This is just super embarrassing for Disney and Pixar now:

Lightyear International Gross = US$222.6m
Minions International Gross = US$905.1m

Top Gun Maverick International Gross = US$1,352.5m

Insane. And not a woke moment in it.
There's a term that I've seen floated around recently that I like and it's "non-woke." As opposed to "woke" or "anti-woke" which are two insufferable sides of the same coin.

Non-woke means it doesn't make any effort to be either the former or the latter, it just focuses on telling a good story with good characters and if there are white males then great. If there are women and/or minorities then that's great too, no big either way and it'd be really nice if Hollywood could just get back to that.

TGM actually does have a pretty diverse cast, definitely moreso than the original, but it never for one second lifts anyone's gender or skin color above anyone else's nor do they ever congratulate themselves in order to give the appearance of being on the "right side of history."

You could also say "relax" to the woke.
I think that the woke and anti-woke need to both relax.

No more stupid sequels where the entire cast of males is replaced with women (GB 2016, Dark Fate) but also no more screaming because a movie has one single female either, lol.

I mean if you count the amount of characters that directly do battle with a Predator in 1987 vs 2022 then Prey actually has a comparatively smaller percentage of females in it than the original film plus many of the male characters in the new movie go toe to toe with it much longer than anyone on Dutch's team save Arnold himself and some idiots are still saying it's "woke?" Get out of here, lol.

Ripley, Sarah Connor, Princess Leia, Marion Ravenwood, most of the Bond Girls since Barbara Bach, Trinity, Ellie Sattler, Matty Walker, Auntie Entity, Cat Tramell, Alex Forrest Alex Owens and Billie Jean were all strong women long before woke-ism.
Officer Lewis Robocop also!
