It is better. Not mind blowingly so, but the depth and fidelity feels a little richer. It's enough that it's worth swapping a snowspeeder head onto the OG ROTJ fig and using the ROTJ one for the helmet. That's what I'm doing.

I finally did a close-up side by side and I'd say the ROTJ and new ESB heads are about equal in terms of app quality, the ESB version is a little darker complexion than the ROTJ, but not by much.
