Does look like HT didn't put the black strap on the outside of the white chin-holder.

Good eye... they missed this important detail? Its there in the ANH X-Wing sequences? And in some ESB pics?

This is actually interesting. It varies in the movie, even within sequences - it was an error by both continuity and wardrobe due to segments of sequences being filmed far apart. Generally, Finse was black showing, England was white showing.

Even in moment by moment WITHIN scenes it changes - black shows as he pulls grappling gun from cockpit (location,) white shows as he leaps from crushed snowspeeder (studio,) black shows as he runs below ATAT (location) white again lasering the ATAT belly (studio shoot) and finally black shows yet again as he lands in snow as ATAT explodes (location.)

It's maybe 50/50. The way HT has it with white showing is maybe a bit more common - for example white shows in Dagobah landing, ESB X-wing cockpit and snowspeeder cockpit (all pilots have white showing.)

I like it because it's yet another way the HT differs from the SSC (puffy location vs thinner studio look being most obvious) and it's a very cool minor detail that's right up in foreground yet no one noticed it.

Thanks TaliBane, I appreciate those insights. Makes perfect sense. I've never really noticed this before, which crazy for all the decades I've watched the movie, countless times. I guess HT could have included both chin strap versions? At least now Dak's helmet will also have the correct chin cup for his custom figure.

Doesn't appear to be possible to mod. The chin cup should have slots at each end that the black strap can be fed either in front of (black strap showing) or behind the chin cup (black strap hidden) The HT chin cup doesn't seem to have those slots.

Luke came out great, really glad he's coming. I can't believe how fast Hot Toys blasted through that release preview image they showed. Only a couple left and all the Star Wars are out.

I hope that chin strap doesn't actually have the black elastic fabric touching his chin?

I bet you also didn't notice the two huge strips of BUBBLE WRAP clearly visible - and clearly identifiable as bubble wrap - right next to Luke's head on his snowspeeder cockpit harness straps. And I mean in the close-ups.

It's the magic of SW, baby. :rotfl

Sadly, it appears the proto did have the slots in the chin cup? 🤔

🤣 NO NO, ACTUALLY I did, I think the bubble wrap is the one detail that dominates my attention in the cockpit scenes! To the point I'm always left asking, wait he crashed? What happen to the cable?! Did they take down the AT-AT?! OMG Dak DIED!!?? Lol 🤪

The HT never had the slots at any stage (even the wonky proto SSC showed) - the SSC Luke Snowspeeder and SSC Luke X-wing both have the slots, maybe that's what you are thinking of.

As I'm trying to decide on whether to get this figure or not, or maybe two (gotta have Dak) - I'm curious who's got the Jazz Inc Snowspeeder POed - this is clearly only way to display these two great pieces.

For me the ultimate SW display imaginable above all else is a 1/6 Luke XW and 1/6 Luke SS with him obviously in the cockpit and then another XW with Luke climbing in!

C’mon Jazz we already have one foot in the grave.
