What's everyone's thoughts on this TE version vs the new HT version? I have the TE version pre-ordered and I'm thinking of just keeping this over the HT release. After shipping and taxes, the HT goblin will be almost $200 more plus it won't be released in the states for another 18 months to 2 years.

Obviously the HT comes with the head sculpt and the glider has more detail and articulation. The figures themselves look very similar with settle differences in how the armor is. I'm also holding out hope that HT releases the BD hobo goblin and I will have this TE version and the HT hobo goblin.

I have this already in hand and am not upgrading. Honestly not showing the headsculpt is something that's totally keeping me from even thinking about it.

Toys Era is still a solid "budget" offering (still expensive, but less so), it's already available as opposed to waiting another year and a half, and is actually the only way to get the original glider design in this scale apparently, since Hot Toys went with the revised NWH design. For that reason some might still want this version (or the glider from it).

Hot Toy's Goblin is a more faithful and accurate figure, less simplifications (toys era simplified a lot of shapes for ease of manufacturing and motion, check out the upper arms and shoulder armor for example), and overall fidelity is going to be much higher.

I still think the Toys Era is not a bad purchase, though obviously for more money you're getting higher overall quality from Hot Toys. But I would not fault someone for keeping the Toys Era in their collection and skipping the HT version.

Same boat here. Not sure what to do. The only thing is that HT quality will likely be better. I'm willing to pay for that. They just don't look all that different to me.

Not sure about that. Toys ERA used a material they use on some of their figures which is basically some type of heavy duty silicone/rubber. I am not sure if it is better that HT material (the material HT chooses is focused on more detail accuracy than durability.)

With HT, your not necessarily paying for durability, your paying for a more expensive process that focuses on better fine detail accuracy. That is worth often paying for extra.

But let's be real, as I mentioned before this thing is a big green power ranger villain basically. At a glance, I doubt I could tell the difference between the two. It is a big green shiny rubber thing at the end of the day. Toys ERA did an amazing job.

Doc Ock is a little different. I like the TE figure, but depending on the headsculpt, costume...ect, I may buy HT to replace it. But that might be a wait and see final product, since a great production headsculpt would be the main reason to upgrade for me.

I am leaning that direction as well. I guess the smiling goblin head will be the green suit, a more beutral expression with the plain outfit version. I'll probably cave for the glider when its released in 3 years though.

I collect customs so it's never a question of value for me. I just want the best there is. 😁

That's what I've heard is the material used on the TE goblin was really good. Like you said, HT is more focused on likeness over durability so there is no guarantee that the material they use will be any better let alone same quality just because it's a HT.

I dont think you can go wrong with either figure. Obviously with HT overall will be better, but for likeness the TE version I think will be just fine for me. I will be able to save $175-200 on this version and put that toward the hobo version if released. I dont think you can go wrong either way.

Yup same here. I only see a slight improvement in quality with the HT version, and the heavy weathering and glider are much more specific to the new movie anyway, when it's really a Spidey 2 Goblin that I want in my collection.

Plus the Toysera still looks phenomenal and is so much better in hand than comes across in pics.

I think I'm leaning that way as well, the TE looks great and is considerably cheaper than the Hot Toys, which is money that can go towards the updated goblin look (and the glider is more accurate to the Raimi films in the TE anyway).
If I was only getting one this would be a harder decision, but even in that circumstance, I might still get the TE one - the differences between it and the HT are quite minimal to my eye with the exception of the glider.

No one else?....I guess there is just too much excitement on the InArt boards or I'm the only one still getting this after the HT release 🤣

It's supposed to ship on the Monday for me so hopefully get it around the 21st. Still waiting on my BD MK 85 and Deluxe Golden Armor WW 😪, so at least have this to look forward to.

So it's in stock? The last times TNS did this, to me, it wasn't in stock up until the cut off date to finish the payment. If it's in stock I'll pay the balance, if not I can wait to pay.

Giantoy sent me the invoice for it with 15 days to pay it. They said they should have in their warehouse by 4/11 and will ship out. They have been on point with every preorder I've got with them.

I bought the first batch of this figure - glad you're getting him as he's a great figure and I want a Raimi GG over a NWH GG.
