I wonder if the lag on Hawkeye figures has anything to do with Hailee Steinfeld's likeness. All the merch I've seen related to her character has been stylized or based on the comic counterpart. Even the Marvel Legends figure they showed had a super generic headsculpt.

It very well could be. Even the 1/6 figure on shopDisney is very generic and looks nothing like her in the face.

Which makes one wonder if there might be some special bases for the Tob and Andrew figures. Can kind of bridge the gap like the SM3 Sandman base and Integrated suit base.
Yeh they could do, I think being the returning Spider-Men they do deserve maybe something a little more than the usual - guess though it depends on whether Hot Toys know more than us regarding the various rumours about cameos or new solo movies for them.

They're getting slated more than praised this year so far and deservedly so.

Now that Queen Studios and JND are getting into 1/6, I have a feeling HT won't be at the top for much longer.
So you're telling me I'll now have to choose between 3 versions of the same figure? Because, let's face it, they're not gonna be doing Mass Effect, they'll be doing MCU and DC. This got a whole lot more complicated, and that's me going past the "trial period" where we see whether their figures will turn out as good as their statues.

Well, competition is good...

She probably read this forum and doesn't want a bunch of creepy collectors buying dolls of her. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

It's still refreshing to see someone else take a shot at characters with newly painted sculpts that HT have been churning out for years.
On one hand, sure. On the other, I'm really not looking forward to looking at my already purchased figures and getting tempted to buy another 300€ of the same version of the same character, then having thar repeated across multiple licenses... It's technically better for the market, but for me...

Thanks, competition is good for the customer.
This. Makes everyone up their game, or in this case, Hot Toys. Instead of Iron Man #536, maybe have a Clone Wars Obi-Wan? Mace Windu? Baron Zemo? Plenty of territory that hasn't been taken.

We all know that people on this board would drop cash on a sixth scale figure if it was insane quality and not part of a Molecule 8 scam.
Sure. But prices are rising, and I don't want to be going through the 6" decisions in something as pricey as the 1/6th scale. I don't have a lot of MCU stuff, since as I've already said I was always more of an X/FF guy, and thus all my needs are in the future. So technically having more to chose from is ideal. But then you have two new players with I assume their own little unique points, scale differences and the such, and an already established collection. If they took DC from HT who can't seem to juggle it, it'd work for the best. But I pray they don't get into the SW game, as there's too much there to hypothetically replace. Marvel-wise, like I said, they're now diving into the characters I really want, so maybe the rivalry will be good for me, as a consumer. But then arises the question of whether you want a uniformal display, a mix and match, or whether you're willing to wait for, say, QS to put up a Cyclops when they've already done Magneto, while HT has already teased the entire X-Men line of the hypothetical first MCU X-Flick. You get my point.

It's going to be a complicated time is what I'm getting at. Good for competition, and it might knock HT off their high horse. Bad for OCD collectors and others who've been in the game too long. If they go at it from a "ultra premium" route, where their figures cost more but also have some extra realism and lower numbers, I could see the appeal of double dipping. Honestly, I want to see some new companies take on some new licenses too, instead of everyone trying to do the best RDJ they can. Obviously that'll make them more money, but come on, give us something else too.

One other to consider though, is that QS has done some comic-based stuff. If they give us 1/6th comic-based figures, you can kiss HT bye-bye as far as I'm concerned. That'd honestly be a good way to hit HT. While they're restrained making the sometimes underwhelming MCU costumes, and the awful casting choices (coughClownKangcough) QS could be churning out comic-accurate greatness. I'd pay a premium for that, I'm telling you now. Obviously if they do such figures they'll be one-offs betwen their MCU releases because that's where the normiebucks are, but it's a nice thought. I already buy the MCU version only if I like the actor/actress and costume already, so it's not like I'm tied to it as a concept. I already just buy based off my comic attachments; getting the actual source versions would be a dream. Then again, they did just 4 pieces, all of them of popular characters, so even if they did release a comic-based Cap, I don't think Namor would be following closely...

I guess we'll know when they properly announce them. May's close enough, and it's not like HT's putting up a ton of POs now either.

I dare to hope.
Hope dies last and everything, but I don't think we'll be getting any such cool stuff anytime soon. Maybe when the new game gears up they'll shop it around somewhere. For JND & QS, I think they'll just start off with some Marvel & DC figures. But a proper 1/6th Normandy Crew would be a dream come true. I don't have the money and space to dive too deep into it, but Shepard, Liara, Garrus at the very least are 1000% locks. A Miranda and an Illusive Man would round up my necessities, and then it's down to the secondary favourites like Samara, Thane and the such.

This. Makes everyone up their game, or in this case, Hot Toys. Instead of Iron Man #536, maybe have a Clone Wars Obi-Wan? Mace Windu? Baron Zemo? Plenty of territory that hasn't been taken.
The problem arises when you have 3 companies making the same big-name protagonist because that's where the money is. I can see HT spamming SW, but if the FF hit, and you've got 3 options for a full team of 4, there's some decisions that will have to be made. Will your HTs be able to mesh with your JNDs and QSs if you're choosing the best version of each figure from the same overall license? I have figures from other companies, but they each have their own little corner. HT has cornered the Marvel/DC/SW market, so there's this uniformal look to those figures. I can deal with my Big Chief Doctors have a different look to them, because I'm not posing them with my Thanos.

There are some questions that will need answers, but it's best we wait and see, otherwise our imaginations will run rampant.

Just like life, got some choices to make. Best to make them when they are actually there and they are not yet. JND could be completely focused on DC or drop it after some failure out of the gate. Or they go to comic looks or OG Avengers days and do all of them. Or sniff some blood in the water, see the PeaceOfTrashMaker and make their own to stick it to the competition.

I know I like the best and that the best is usually the most expensive. Those JND 1/3 figures are insanely good. But we will see when JND/QS actually get there.

I suppose. Like I said, I'm not in too deep ATM. Just an Endgame Iron Man & Thanos. It's the current and future MCU characters that interest me. If JND/QS beat HT to the punch in any way, I'm happy to go for the best version. By May HT will have put up Tobey-Man, MK, Battinson and maybe a Strange, concerning chracters I'm interested in. I can refrain from POing until then, see what the other companies offer. If they're of a higher quality and price point, I could maybe stick with HT for my line-wide display, and get some characters in that "definitive" format. I heard something about them getting SW too. That's going to be a problem...

Anyway, like you said, too much speculating; better to wait and see.

I don't think the 1/6 are their priorities at all. They want to have products in the lower price range but their bread and butter is still their large pieces. Competition is good for collectors, just don't expect too much.

That's a good point too. JND is DC-only at the moment, so I can see them trying to pick up the slack with HT falling behind. QS is all over the place. But you do have a point. This will be them getting into it with some classics done their way at first, and then we'll see. HT remains the choice for the serious collector who's in it to complete teams and whatnot. If only due to the fact that this is their focus and they'll pump out a larger volume. QS & JND will stick to Batmen, Jokers and Iron Men for the time being as I see it. What better way to launch your new line by offering an Iron Man with better engineering for example, if they've found such a way? I can see them doing a Battinson right out of the gate too. A Doctor Strange or MK though? Nah. Not yet at least. In the end, I welcome them challenging HT in any way. Prices keep increasing and even things like accessories keep getting fewer. They could use a rival.

But yeah, I think these will be akin to 3Zero's 1/12 MCU offerings. They'll start small, one or two figures per year. I hope QS just starts doing comic-based 1/6th, as there's a big market for them and nobody's offering them. I'd love to get some page-accurate costumes without the MCU's LINESLINESLINESLINES or bad casting (coughClownKangcough). That'd be a real gamechanger, I'll tell you that.

With a new Moon Knight teaser today, I hope we get the main costume at the start of the show and Mr. Knight afterwards. Those costumes are too cool for school. But the trend now seems to be everything comes after the D+ show.
