That’s because people are waiting for videos of the figure under studio lights, with one window open, at 3pm eastern standard time on a Thursday. That will give them a fairer idea of the figure.
Or maybe we know that anyone who would try to even post something without malice would get shouted down by the mob? There’s blood in the water and the sharks are out. Why go swimming?

You seem to swim these waters plenty. I promise I wont bite, hard. hehehe

Still thinking about getting a standard and doing some work to it. I agree with waiting on nicer pictures/video, looking forward to that.

Also looking forward to seeing the work everyone is going to put in to theirs.

So far the only truly bad pics were the first ones released showing Baldrietta. If a decision was to be made you have plenty of pics straight from asmus, a few from collectors that are decent, and a pretty damn good video of the whole set. If you cant make up your mind based on that you wont be any happier with the ones that come out next.

I don't give a rat ass about his opinion or he represents what store... what i'm looking for is a proper hd video and clarity on the figure with good lighting and we haven't got one so far.
In your own words " a proper review " a review is an opinion 🤯 . I could shine the bat signal on it and I can tell you now that this mess of a figure won't look any better than what you have already seen!

If you believe that under certain lights/camera suddenly the neck connection will be correct, henrietta will have a nice paintjob and hair, the steamless arms will be fine, the headsculpt will look like bruce, or any of the other issues will be solved i have bad news.
Sure, under certain light poses some figures win points, this one has structural problems that are not gonna be fixed even under the most beautifull light.

Beauty or suck-ness . . . however obviously delusional or rightfully justified by the majority . . . is in the eyes (provided there are no medical vision issues resulting in poor vision) of the beholden collectors.

"Denial" is hard to admit let alone let go.

A bit of levity. Maybe.

A 1:6 collector found a lamp in antique shop. He rubbed it. A genie appeared.

"Thank you for freeing me! I shall grant you one wish.", he exclaimed.

The 1:6 collector thought about it and said, "I want two each of every 1:6 figure made by Hot Toys since they started."

The genie looked at the 1:6 collector bewildered and said, "I'm not certain of what you ask. Is there something else?"

The 1:6 collector thought a bit more and then said, "How about fixing the production design and quality flaws of every 1:6 figure made by Asmus so all 1:6 collectors will truly be happy?"

The genie gave a puzzled look and got out a notepad and pen.

The genie asked, "How many figures did Hot Toys make so far?"

Yea seriously. It's getting old. It almost sounds like these 4 or 5 folks are bothered by the fact that there are members willing to give this figure a chance.

I don't really see the need to cancel mine yet since I haven't gotten an invoice. I'm kind of hoping that they're going to work on whatever they can. If I don't see any new positive pics or them showing any progress I'll cancel.

In fairness, I understand why some collectors are frustrated about others being willing to “give the figure a chance”
It surprises me that anyone acting in good faith can’t see this.
No one truly cares about what anyone else enjoys or displays in the privacy of their own home, but it comes down to “accountability,” “improvement”, and frankly how the poor taste of some, can ruin things for others.
If the majority of people who see this release refuse to reward the company by buying it, they will be forced to do better in the future and other companies will follow suit.
If the overwhelming majority decide that it is “good enough!” Well…as the saying goes…WHAT GETS REWARDED GETS REPEATED.
And anyone who cares about high quality 1/6 scale figures being produced loses.

I asked my supplier if I could cancel the figure (which is against their policy) but they're considering it and are asking for proof of the inferior final product. I wonder if I should link anything specific? Like certain pages in this thread?

Send them the link to this thread starting around 40, but likely easier to send pictures of all the issues identified thus far.

Good luck on the pre-order cancellation and I hope it works out in your favor.

Page 40 it is then, thanks a lot!

I definitely think the figure has plenty of merits and is a keeper with some mods, I just don't think the $200 asking price is good value for money which is a darn shame because I REALLY want a 1/6 Ash.

I don’t think pictures in a light box are going to magically make this thing look how we all wish it turned out so a ‘proper’ review will likely just expose all the issues we can already plainly see- just in HD.

The SSC version may not be as accurate but by golly does it have a ton more presence and character. Even as a supposed caricature, to my eyes, it’s more recognisable as Ash and actually looks heroic and like it displays well.
I agree. (y)
