A nice comparison of the paint app in the film and the p1 warrior. Some were brownish but I'm glad they went with this paint app. Not to mention it is perfect for a pale blue light to reflect off of, just like the film. IMG_20210317_094054.jpg

Dog was already brown. It's nice to see a different hue of color.

Well from what I've seen in Stan Winston's book, the warrior stunt man suit, which was like spandex with added parts on top, was brown/gold ish. But then the hero puppet was a grey almost white shading with dark background colors. So it would pick up the blue lights on set. But it was never blue color, the queen was though...she was straight up blue lol. With the big chap paint the runner and the warrior, it will be nice to see the different tones. Sadly so many people just see Aliens. For us crazy people that's just insulting. Haha. 169442ea67d390d0585ab5063d2df4b4.jpg

That's a great picture, it shows how the mid-section of the torso was elongated to make the alien tables and skinnier.
There's another version where they put two extra ribs on the ribcage as well.

Extremely nerdy post incoming.

Still trying to figure whether to pull the trigger on one of these. To get a sense of how big these would actually look, I opened up the 360 turntable Youtube video on my TV. First thing I realized is how massive these will be in real life, as they will be even larger than they appear on a 50" screen. The second thing I realized is how important your distance from the piece (or the focal length of your lens while taking pictures) will be for your perception of it.

What I mean by that is: the website states this Warrior is roughly 26" tall and 30" wide/deep. The photos on the website confirm that it is indeed wider than it is tall. But the YouTube video was shot with a longer focal length, so the depth appears to be "flattened," making it appear taller than wide -- which is excellent, it really does look good from the front view in the video.

But here's the problem: the actual statue will be so enormous and the base so deep that you may have to stand pretty far away in order to achieve this effect. Convention photos are rarely great, but the Alien Warrior in particular looks quite warped in convention photos (head appears huge vs the body and base appears much too big). Why? Because photographers can't bring a super long lens and shoot it from across the room where depth will be more neutral.

In short, it's not just the ratio of height to width. It's the overall scale that will make this ratio harder to pull off. You not only need the physical space to fit the statue, but enough room to be able to stand back and perceive it in a balanced way.

From an optical standpoint, the Big Chap will be easier to display despite its greater height. It's not as wide or as deep, so its proportions will look "correct" even if you're standing closer to it.

You must remember the open egg on one side and the tail on the other are further out than the base. So the base isn't exactly 30inches.
Same with the dog, the tail extends past the base. I'm okay with a massive base, even the Chap has a large base, but the foundation isn't 30 inches my 30. I'd say it's probably 30?28 ish.
I can see issues with collectors that have lots of statues and space is an issue. But I do think Prime1 is making these 3 like presence pieces. Since I'm only collecting these 3, I'm pretty stoked about the impact they put off.
I did hear information that the chap is "in processing" right now, whatever that means lol.

Yeah, I'm aiming for a more minimalist display myself. Just tricky trying to find a companion piece for the Jungle Hunter. That one has everything I could want, but all the possible companions for it have drawbacks in one way or another.

In my heart of hearts, what I'd prefer to have next to the JH is a Warrior. Or at least the bust. I don't know if I trust CoolProps to deliver and their bust is an acid-covered mess. P1's has that insanely deep base, but the bust is great and the paint app should be fine.

Now I'm thinking I might order the P1 deluxe Warrior. Best case scenario, it works next to the Jungle Hunter and I eat crow. Worst case scenario, I keep the bust and sell the rest. But historically, if I have to do this much mental gymnastics, it usually means I shouldn't get the thing. :lol

Yeah I wonder if the Jungle hunter scale would be too small. I know everyone says it's big. But I feel they should have just made it 1/3.
The trio of Aliens is all I want really. They are iconic. Giger, Stan Winston and back to Giger. Even though adi took the liberty, the dog has Gigers design all over it.
There are two things Prime1 could make that would sell it for me, a life-size chest burster, from 79. Or a Queen bust. Other than that I'll be done with my Alien collection.
Berserk has always tempted me. Bloodborne too, and their 1/3 Doom Guy is arguably their best 1/3 statue.
Keep the set up classy. Nothing worse than seeing these classic statues crammed into a room with no space.

I see the Jungle Hunter working better with the Warrior than the Big Chap. They're both hunched over, it's easier to muddy the scales that way. Hope I'm wrong and both are a decent match, but $1700-1900 makes for an expensive error.

The Queen is the way to go! Main Alien character of the movie, and you get all what you need on that base ...open egg, closed eggs, facehugger, two warriors, and the *****..if you're ready for something that will take some space, then go straight to the Queen!

Has it ever been mentioned if Prime1 or if anyone else is doing a 1/4 warrior or Big Chap?

Nope. Prime 1 backed away from their 1/4 plans and no one else has mentioned it. I've been hoping Infinity would get the license, but they're taking so long with their Predator stuff that chances seem slim for anything else.

Thank you for the info.

Yep these are crazy expensive. I mean spending $100 a month every month for the past like 4 years on prime 1 aliens is getting old hahaha. After this I'm going to just do a vacation once a year instead. Unless p1 drops some other ****e

Well it looks like the 1/3 Alien scale will be exclusively Prime1 soon. Cp will no longer hold that license after their warrior. Prime1 will then hold it. And evidently they aren't letting go of it. So we can expect even more 1/3 Alien stuff from p1.

To be honest I really really dislike the prime1 queen. I would love a 1/3 queen bust tbh. But that queen diorama is just too much, and I say that and I love how busy the warrior base is. This queen just look so robotic and almost expressionless.

Not sure about what you mean by robotic but in the movie indeed she looked super robotic! Expressionless....matter of taste to me she looks agressive and ready to protect his hive , just perfect. But indeed a bust would have been nice but also space eater so..all in all, you obtain way more with that Queen than whith their warrior. at least it's my point of view.

Robotic for the same reason I couldn't stand the coolprops queen. Both arms same level like a zombie walking. The pose is static. The Queen in the film was emotional and had a wide range of expressions. This piece just doesn't do it for me. Nothing beats the old sideshow bust queen. No one yet has at least.

Yeah, that Sideshow piece was great. Really captured how chaotic her movements were, arms flailing around. It sounds silly to say, but that's the kind of non-sculptural detail that can really bring a collectible to life.
