At 450 pieces you have to wonder what a typical run for figures like this are. Is that low? High? Average? Hard to say really. Numbers that low is probably how they fly under the radar most of the time. Clearly they are worried with this one as none of the sites have the pictures unredacted.

Something bothers me about the SooSoo one. It looks good don?t get me wrong, but something just doesn?t look right to me. The coat is definitely going to eventually fall apart weather that?s months or years down the line. If anything, if I were to get the SooSoo, i?d have to pick up the Sideshow jacket separately to swap with.

If they made an astonishing era Cyclops, that I would buy.
Same! That?s my favorite look for Cyclops

I usually hate purchasing two of the same figure, but this SST Gambit is just too freaking cool looking. As jedijim3002 said " the price on the soosoo is a no brainer.". Easy PO.

I really prefer the Sideshow coat, both on terms of its overall design and the cool print it has on the inside--and the fact that it won't crumble away in a few years. I also prefer that the Sideshow head is smirking, which seems like the obvious choice over the glowering SST sculpt.

The other consideration is that if you bought Sideshow's other X-Men, SSC Gambit will match their look better.

450 is pretty low as a collector item, not extremely low. Limited editions usually go up to 1000 at least. For watches they would call a 8000 production limited. i saw the photos, looks like it's the best Gambit figure one can ever get. So at 450 units the value will just go up and it will be extremely hard and expensive to get in the resale market.

I'm guessing it's probably the quality and difficulty of the figure and the lack of experience in mass production or just they don't want to sacrifice their QC for more numbers.

It also depends on whether the makers will make more runs when they see sales doing well.

Comparing the two. They both have great qualities but for the price the soosoo is a no brainer.

Sideshow actually looks more realistic in those shots. except that Sideshow one looks more like some cosplay guy.

Seems like KGHobby has him back in stock, just ordered mine

Agreed. I think I like the sideshow overall better than SooSoo’s but I know that’s the unpopular opinion. I’m by no means a Sideshow fan boy either as I know some will be quick to say. I’ve had to put lots of work into my Sideshow figures to make them how I want, but their Gambit doesn’t look like it needs any work to me and that I would hopefully be happy with it right out of the box.

Awesome! And thanks for the side to side comparison shots!!

Soosootoys? looks way better to me all the way lol Head-sculpt is way better, I get people don?t like pleather but whatever the material is looks better than the cloth coat(Not to say the city is bad/I just always assumed he was wearing a long leather coat lol)

Definitely a must have!

Question for anyone that's bought a Soosoo toys figure before- how spot on do the figures usually come to the prototype shots once in hand?

I do like the SSC version, but if SSToys actually looks like this then I got some thinking to do...

I've passed on the SS line, they just look off to me and way over priced. PO'd this as soon as I saw it.

Ha! Sideshow is improving over time, but they still continue to be a little underwhelming. Not sure why they don't take more cues from their Premium Format Line by using that design software they have to shrink down their constructs to 1/6 form, and create 1/6 parts from that.

If only they would consult me as a "beta tester", I could give them loads of info and critique!

Who knows about this SooSoo "Gambit". Those pics look a little doctored up to me to be the actual prototype, but we shall see.

I?m so worried on the pleather flaking down the line. But then again, someone pointed out that once it flakes off, then I have the Sideshow outfit instead. Hahahahah

I had zero interest in Sideshow's Gambit figure, but SooSoo's looks fantastic. IMO this is what a comic inspired 1/6 line should look like. SooSoo is really on a tear, hopefully they aren't stretching themselves thin. I wonder if they'll produce Rogue next. A 1/6 comic X-Men line would be amazing.

I dunno about you guys but I'm 100% ready for a comic version colossus and nightcrawler figure. Colossus would have to be chromed out otherwise its a fail! Nightcrawler could come with a SS exclusive pirate sword. That would be so sick. Man the possibilities with this line are endless.

Although the SooSoo looks great, the other reason I have confidence in the Sideshow one, is that we've already seen it.
They previewed it at that virtual NYC Con, and for the figures they've released over the past couple of years, the finished item looks exactly like the prototype.
Also, as others have said, if you've already purchased the other Sideshow figs, the Sideshow Gambit will fit in better with them.

I'd love to have both, but I typically buy only 1 of each character...

I expect the paint to be a little flatter on the soo soo toys headsculpt, but to look essentially the same. It will be a nice figure no doubt. I might actually attempt to get both and see which parts I like better.

The chest piece is better imo on the sideshow one as I don't want any extra techy detail and I prefer the non shiny pants as well. Rest of Soo Soo's definitely gives sideshow a run for its money.
