Hot Toys R2-D2 Deluxe Version

I will hold judgement on that until I have the HT version... I love the IS Deluxe Thanos.

The paint doesn't look bad by any means and is overall a great looking statue. It's just Hot Toys did a better job with the metallic gold paint. There are a couple other nits too like their IW 1/4 Thanos has more realistic/better painted teeth and a more nicely painted Infinity Gauntlet.

Usually Sideshow is the last of the bigger retailers to have stock but every once in awhile BBTS ends up being the only one with stock left. That is usually when they crank up the price.

True and likely, but doubt it'll be the deluxe R2 with the all the electronics and accessories. This one will remain in-demand.

Annoyingly, mine came with a missing restraining bolt, which also doubles as the magnet to open the little doors. They still open fairly easily with my fingers, but it was one of the more desirable accessories for display purposes :-(

I suggest folks keep an eye out for any missing accessories when you get yours.

That sucks to be missing parts. Heads up though, I find the magnets in the attachments work even better to open the doors than the restraining bolt does. Especially on the smaller panels. Much easier on the fingers!

I agree the magnet on the restraining bold is pretty weak. Plus, on mine, the panel where you plug in the lamp is super tight, so I had to use my own strong magnet to open up that particular door.

Anyone want to speculate what the HT 3PO will come with? My wishful thinking is the following.

-Swap out silver and gold lower leg for prequel and OT look
-Restraining bolt
-Comlink
-Ewok throne
-Removable limbs for specific scenes
-Cargo net
-Extendable eye for salacious crumb
-Swap our chest and face plates with green Jabba slime
-Hip articulation for sitting position or swap out lower half
-Light up eyes
-Electronic voice lines with remote.

Did I miss anything?

I feel like we're likely to get a clean and dirty Threepio (nobody produce *that* image!) but other than that not sure what they'll hit us with. Swap out parts are *possible* given they went all-out on R2 and have done swap-out limbs on Iron Man armours...

A deluxe with a double base that could fit 3PO & R2 would be awesome!!

And I'd prefer a slightly weathered look, like the SS, rather than a shiny pristine look like the Tamashii.

I’ve had this R2 for a while but didn’t put it up on display right away. Seeing the Hot Toys version next to the Sideshow version it’s pretty crazy how much better the Hot Toys release is. The dome being diecast really adds a lot, and overall the paint looks a lot better. The Sideshow release looks and feels more like a toy by comparison.

I?ve been considering getting this for a while now. I have the TFA version and it looks great with the SS 3PO so I?ve held off but that Tamashi/ANH R2 combo looks amazing.

If you get the deluxe it has a ton of accessories for changing up display options. I prefer the newer one because it has a cleaner look overall, with less weathering.

Jump on it immediately. The $75 difference is worth it.
