People bought at the price point with no head prior to that announcement. There's no shifty work here. That was the list price.

They 100% had the sculpt in their pocket, whether people ordered it at that price or not is irrelevant. I think HT was always intending to include a head and the price should reflect it if they just can't.

Would also explain the long time from PO to release if they are working on getting the HS included.

Yeah when shown at Secret Base, it doesn't look like much as far as the total package goes. Also it's kind of crappy in the regard that the head was not going to change the price. But now with no head, they're not going to lower the price. Kind of a crappy deal in that way I mean. It's a higher cost figure with not much.

The figure without head sculpt offers everything that the majority of customers will ever need.

Without the JG head it does look a bit light on the accessories front. The best comparators for him are probably the two Dr. Strange releases, and both gave us more. The first DS was $235 and the second $267. At $259, this really should provide a few more magic effects, although I guess technically the green clouds count.

You're not wrong (I ordered it before any mention of the JG sculpt), plus the helmet does light up too. But I was hoping the torso armor would light up as well (like IW Thor) in lieu of "reflective effects", so it's not perfect. But at this point, I'll take what I can get. :lol

There really is no reason for HT not to include the light up torso other than pure laziness. The torso piece as it currently stands with the Mysterio prototype figure doesn't have any articulation. It's one solid piece...so I fail to see why HT doesn't just fit some LEDs inside. :cuckoo:

I really hope if they don't include a hs, they'll add something to it or maybe make the torso light up like you said, it is a one piece afterall.
But I decided to PO today.
I'm happy that I now own or will own my three fav mcu villains, loki, killmonger and mysterio. I wish thanos weren't that big, would have gotten him if not for the price.

It looks like it breaks at the bottom of the sternum but I could be wrong.

I kind of doubt it, I'm assuming the licensing issue is with Jake himself. Disney actually owns the Spider-Man licensing rights, not Sony.

OK, but now if things are worked out, shouldn't it run just the same as with Spiderman ? Or who owns the rights to Mysterio ?

And if it all lays with Jake, why would you not want to earn easy money by allowing toy companies to use your likeness ???

Because some celebrities are terrible to work with and have insane demands. Not sure if JG is one of them but who knows, maybe he is demanding $2 million from hot toys.

He could just simply not approve the headsculpt. I'd heard that's what happened with the HT Daredevil figure. That a headsculpt was done, but Cox just never approved it.

He didn't approve a head done by Diamond Select either. But we still have SooSoo Toys version.

But maybe the toy license doesn't include sony movies. Since hot toys releases their figures a year or two late, maybe at the time the licensing has expired or something for disney to sell the movie merchandise.
If they have planned for the headsculpt reveal at a point, I'm pretty sure they have talked to jake for the likeness, otherwise the jc hong post and hot toys post never happened. I think hot toys have never took a headsculpt out from release cos of licensing issue from the actors, have they?

But we never see Hot Toys revealing an unmasked headsculpt in the advertising, mysterio is different. So I believe this is a different case.

They usually sign the likeness as part of their contracts. Tots are a huge part of being in a marvel movie

With the two Spider-Man films being done by Sony and marvel having the merch rights, all actor likeness might not have been included. Pretty much all Vulture and Mysterio figures have been with their masks on. Only Funko and LEGO come to mind with unmasked looks and those are very stylized. I would hope they could work this out. I can?t imagine it?s not at least close for HT to have jumped the gun before all approvals were in place. Most of the Marvel people seem to really dig the HT figures. I think I even read once that Fiege looks forward to seeing the new HT figures and how they are kind of influenced to make new looks just so they can see the HT figures of them:lol

No the toy license is for ALL Spider-Man figures, Disney has it and always will as far as I know. Sony sold that part away.
