Will Trek's Chris Pine put on Green Lantern's ring?

IESB.net has posted a rumor that Star Trek's Chris Pine ("James T. Kirk") is being eyed as the title character in Warner Brothers' upcoming Green Lantern movie.
Pine would play Hal Jordan, a pilot who finds a powerful ring and its lantern-like battery when a spaceship crashes on Earth. Jordan is selected to succeed the craft's dying occupant as the next Green Lantern, a galactic guardian who is a member of an interstellar corps, the site reported, citing an anonymous source.
The movie has reportedly set up production offices and is on track to start shooting in September in Australia for the previously announced Dec. 17, 2010, release date.
Pine is reportedly at the top of a list that also supposedly includes Terminator Salvation's Sam Worthington.

I haven't seen Chirs Pine in anything other than the Star Trek movie trailers. So I can't say if this is good thing or bad thing, however Pine does resemble a young Hal Jordan (with blue eyes). :D
what you say...i guess we'll see what the guy can do this summer. if he does a good job hopefully he can pull of GL.

I think its damn near perfect casting actually.....fans online are seeming to be getting behind it.

I think he definitely has the look, but at the end of the day I want the movie to have a great script and a director who is on top of his game. That's what really matters

Well....the script has been in the works for awhile and there are rumors that its really well done encompassing a lot of the GL history including Oa and the Power Battery sequences. It involves Abin Sur and Sinestro we know already so can't really go too far off the path there. Martin Campbell (Director of Casino Royale) is directing so all that is left is to get a really great cast in there. Chris Pine I think would be an excellent start...

I agree, he looks the part. And I'm guessing, since he was cast as Kirk, he'd be able to pull off the hot-shot airforce test pilot personality required for early Hal.

We'll see where the fans stand after Trek.

Martin Campbell? That's cool!

In about 7 weeks we'll know what's up, can't wait! :D
