Re: The Sickness´s Customs (Kratos and 1st Blade of Exile done)

So I started this thread with a pretty big name and it didn´t quite live up to it, so I´m gonna fill this now.

November of last year I got Transformers Combiner Wars Titan Class Devastator and right of the bat? He is pretty awesome already, when unpacked and combined, also in scale-terms to masterpieces:

But I directly thought, when unpacked and combined that he has SO. MUCH. MORE. POTENTIAL.

So...I started to put up my workspace and started on his front shield and the treads of bonecrusher:

In betweenon Bonecrusher´s treads I saw so much more to and got me inspired to add my own caution tape, o here´s the first before/after pic of Devastator´s left arm BEFORE the later attachment of the DNA upgrade kit:

In between I saw more and more things I wanted to change and the front of Long Haul was where I tried to do my own license plate inspired things, where it says "Long Haul" in the fitting cavity and also I painted lights and little bits and pieces:

Much more to come through the day, if you dig that already...you may subscribe to that thread and see you later.

Next I went up to 'Hook' and his front and back needed some work too, I painted the lights, vents and also a license plate, those changes weren´t to big and you may see them at a later date.

After this I wandered to the top of hook, there was quite a bit more to do, like details on the crane arm, added steel rope to it, caution tape and brought out the light grid:

After that my styrene showed up and I was eager to see if I would be able to pull something off, with it. I liked the "knee" parts on the X2 upgrade kit, but 70 bucks or so, only for 2 parts to use were WAY too much. Knee parts are shown circled in red:

I love this material. Worked the first time with it and everything turned out the way I wanted it. It´s a bit raw, but it´s selfmade and gave me experience with the material.

Process:

And afterwards I repainted the whole thigh area, which turned out like this:

Comparison to still original right leg:

After that I went to "Scavenger" and his shovel arm, which had SO. MANY. DETAILS that were just green and needed a redo asap.
Brought out hoses, grills, ladders and all kinds of bits and pieces, on the forearm too, fitting to highlights on the extender pieces of the DNA kit:

After this I turned to "Mixmaster" and upgraded is paint apps. I painted his rims, tanks on the inside and also part of DNA´s kit.
I have the pictures of this on another pc, but here you see a bit of what I did. More detailed ones later:

Afterwards I did various bits and pieces I wasn´t happy with. Plates for the knees from the DNA kit had a better place on my Devastator in the back, since Long Haul´s loading areas was originally hollowed out for his thighs. So I again just built little plates outta styrene were the DNA parts wandered too:

Then, since Long Haul´s arms were just staying there and I didn´t intend to cut´em off, I decided to close them and give them a proper arm form:

Next was Bonecrusher´s shovel. I painted it black from the inside and silver from the outside, to match the overall silver of his front in bot mode. Also added a nice waterslide decal on his hood:

And as the last bit: I loved what Generation Toy did with their Devastator (Gravity Builder), having a ladder on Long Haul´s (Burden´s) front.
I decided that I wanted that too and Devastator needs that:

Not too many are sold on my project, so I just continue for my own documentary´s sake. :lol

After all of this was done, I wanted to raise his chest shield, which NEEDED raising.

I looked up the height, thought about what I could do, started a prototype and saw that a pretty big hole emerged left and right under his shield:

So I started carving out rough outlines of a filler piece, with twisties as cables and added more and more detail to it, until I thought to be happy and assembled it the first time:

pixlr_20160920081305217_2.jpg

And with his shield also and this time; no holes:

Needless to say that I was extremly happy with it and so I painted it:

pixlr_20160922211142972.jpg

Then came varnish and assembly, comparison before and after:

pixlr (1).jpg

So now I have the possibility to have it in G1 configuration, with shield (upper), or IDW comics inspired (lower):

pixlr_20161001002122475.jpg

And lastly a comparison of old height to the new. About half an inch was added, so now the height is more fitting to a simulated chest, with the upper part roughly coming of as a collarbone:

Hope you guys enjoyed, currently I´m builing his second knee part, then comes painting of the 2nd thigh and also painting his last component: Scrapper. Can´t wait until he´s finished, but as a last:
