Description: Book Condition: As New. Dust Jacket Condition: As New. Limited. As New/As New. Signed by Author. signed limited edition Gary Larson Complete Far Side 2,000 copies with framed print, signed & numbered For fans of Gary Larson's popular strip, "The Far Side," the 2003 publication of THE COMPLETE FAR SIDE, published by Andrews McMeel, was welcome news. Selling out soon after its publication, the two-volume, slipcased edition met with universal praise, and no wonder: the attention to detail from all parties -- Andrews McMeel, the book designer in Atlanta, Georgia, and Larson's own FarWorks, Inc. -- insured that this showcase book would be the best possible collection time, money, and diligent effort could create. What most fans didn't know was that a signed, limited edition of THE COMPLETE FAR SIDE was also published, by Wyland Gallery. Limited to only 2,000 sets -- two books in a custom-designed clamshell box, with a framed print, numbered and signed -- this special edition has been sold only through the gallery itself, and, most recently through two leading Internet booksellers. Not available in bookstores, this limited edition is a superb example of book manufacturing: the books themselves are bound in burgundy-colored leather with gilt pages (gold ink on the edges of the books); the books are encased in foil-stamped clamshell box made of Japanese cloth, with full color insets; and the book set is accompanied by a signed and numbered full color lithograph, matted and framed. (The number is matched in the book itself, in volume 1.) Carefully packed in an oversized thirty-five pound box with cushioning and padding to protect its contents, this edition is, in a word, magnificent. It will unquestionably be the centerpiece of your book collection. In terms of content, Gary Larson's one-panel cartoons set a high watermark for newspaper cartoonists, many of whom have tried, unsuccessfully, to ape his art style and brand of distinctive humor -- attempts that have, predictably, fallen far short for Gary Larson is in a class of his own, a cartoonist whose unique vision and wonderfully weird sense of humor cannot be replicated. As a publisher of limited edition books, I must say that I've never seen an edition so beautiful as this one. It is, simply, a work of bookmaking art. Everyone who had a hand in this deserves our thanks. Signed by Author.
