Actually screw my lengthy review here it is in a nutshell.

Based on the fact that there are only two perfect Star Wars movies, ANH/ESB, this movie faithfully continues the tradition since ROTJ of Star Wars movies being a mixed bag.

That simple.

TFA/TLJ/RO have more positives than the PT though.

In all my years here, that's the most half-assed review I've seen you write....appropriate for TLJ though. :monkey3 :chase

Are you really comparing ROTJ to this eye-rolling garbage???

.......speechless :thud:

What the hell is this abomination =))

This TLJ mess is more ****ed up than TFA :rotfl. The way I see TFA of JJA is thounsand times better =))

Cannot make it to the ending...sorry but just too much SW bullsjit that my tiny brain to absorb today =))

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

Saw it last night and have to say..... I hated it. It left me feeling empty, tearful and questioning whether I just forget about the ST.

I had reservations about TFA but came to like it quite a bit. I was hoping that TLJ would give me answers and emotional pay off from TFA, but it completely disregarded TFA and to be honest, down right contradicted it. TFA now seems largely pointless.

TLJ looked fantastic and the acting, particularly from Hamill, was outstanding.

However, the basic plot was severely lacking, the side story with Finn was irrelevant and I just didn't feel any emotion from the 'twists' because they made it quite obvious that there is no coherent plan with the ST.... at all.

Lucas changed his storyline with the OT as he went along, but the changes were for the better and didn't take anything away from what had gone before. TLJ completely ignored TFA, which to me is unforgivable. Rey Random never made sense to me, Snoke has been rendered pointless and Luke's death was uneccessary.

I loved TFA so much and was SO hyped for this one... But I'm sad to say that I agree with everything you just pointed out. All the build-up from Luke's lightsaber being handed from Rey... All this for him to just toss it away? I found it funny at first, but is pretty much a let down. And Luke's big scene at the end being such a badass, only to find out it was just a projection?

All in all I kinda liked it, but I feel empty this morning. Never thought I wouldn't be looking forward to the next one. :(

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

Rotten Tom has 60K audience reviews - currently at 61%. :rotfl

That's great... and deserved. One night can change everything.

Wonder how Disney will spin this?

At least Rian's trilogy will be dead (I never believed it was anything more than marketing hype anyway).

I guess I'm the only one who enjoyed this movie last night. Didn't like the force awakens but thought this one was great.

"Merely a two word review..."

Half assed yes but also accurate.

My main barometer going in was if they don’t mess up Luke and Leia I would be open to the direction they were taking it and since they didn’t screw up with Luke and Leia I was able to work with the problem areas enough so that I would still rate this movie better than the PT and yes I know that’s not saying much.

Yes of course that casino scene should’ve never been in the film just find another way to introduce Benecio’s character.

Yes no backstory on Snoke was odd.

Yes Rey’s lineage was unfulfilling.

Yes the armada chase was silly.

Yes FO losing Star Killer base having no impact on their threat level was bizarre.

Those are my 5 main complaints the rest of the movie was astounding to behold.

Very thrilling great stakes energetic performances funny moments and nuanced drama saved the movie from being more negative than positive which is where the PT resides.

TLJ is much better than TFA even with that horrible casino scene and silly space chase.

Is that still half assed lol

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

I can sum up the stuff I liked in about 15 seconds. But to come up with all the terrible scenes, contradictions, and poor explanations/revelations I would need the Blu Ray and a pen and paper.

See, that's much better. :D

I was sure you were going to hate Luke in this film.

It was the stupidest ****ING ending I've seen in years. **** this movie. **** Disney.

Ditto. They ruined everything.

We're simpatico tonight.

What a wonderful smell I discovered lastnight.

Did I just watch a ****ing movie whose sole entire premise was built upon the fact that the BAD GUYS WERE UNABLE TO CATCH UP TO THE GOOD GUYS!

Did they really keep cutting back to the dumbest chase in cinema history!

:lol

62% on RT fan score. :lol

And well deserved. I wonder how Disney will spin this? :lol

At least that BS about a Rian trilogy will go away now.

If i’m not mistaken and Wor please correct me if I’m wrong but I believe Wor and I are on the same page when it comes to beat up Luke.

But I can see why you would think that but I was open to his predicament.

I look forward to your second viewing when this all goes to ****. You always change your mind after your 2nd viewing.

Beat up Luke? What do you mean? In this movie or in general? I like beat-up Luke like from ESB if that's what you mean. I like him better when he isn't all-powerful Jedi that's true. I don't like him when he's splashing blue milk in his face and growling like Gollum.

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

Well this movie seems polarizing. You either like it or think it's the worst movie ever made. I'm going to see it tomorrow (but read all the major spoilers) and i'm expecting a good looking action movie with a bad script.

Talked to a friend who saw it last night and he liked it. A few nitpics here and there, but nothing bad enough to compare it to a piece of bantha poodoo.

I really think they need to make a 5-10 years gap between EP8 and 9 stories. Let Kylo build his own Empire (with the Knights of Ren) and let Rey fully explore the Force (and gather some force-sensitive allies).

That's the big problem for me right now. It's like TFA and TLJ are just one big rushed movie and it doesn't help the lore or character development. It feels like 2/3 of the new trilogy took place in 2-3 weeks. Compared to the OT (and even PT), there's nothing to fill between the movies right now.

Anyway, i'm still eager to see the movie ;)

I agree! They must be saving the Knights of Ren for IX when we get to see them fully trained by Kylo. And I fully expect the First Order to be in complete control of the Galaxy at the start of IX.

I feel bad for all of the people who hated VIII. It was really unique and did things with the Force we've never seen before, like pulling yourself in space, astral projections, and mental links where you could touch the other person. I thought it was great.

One question I have is how Leia's story is finished.
