If I do eventually get this I might swap the dome for the ANH Vaders dome as he's got the hasbro & thought it suited the ESB look better....
but there are more then just dome issues in that shot ie: pin head, looks fat/wide, chest piece to small and the suit looks weird.... will wait for more images, but based on that one shot it's a pass

Not much of a nitpicker when it comes to finer details but did some google image searching and that dome does look a bit weird, its not some OCD compulsion you guys have in this one instance heh, its pretty clear when you do some comparison.

Yup. Even more prominent than the width of the crown, is the shape of the lines of the dome around the face. It should be arched over the eyes and down to the rim. Those lines on Sideshow's are almost straight slants.

Did you know there's a difference between criticism and being a miserable, vindictive *******?

It's sarcasm! I'm sure (and hope) the artists at SSC have a thicker skin than you think they do.

My comment was directed more to the Art Director or whoever thought that photo was an appropriate image to strike up excitement to sell this figure. I've been working in the design and advertising industry for years. And yes I've had to put up with some miserable, vindictive ****** on a regular basis, but you take it and move on.

If that image came across my desk. I would have told them to rethink posting it and pointed out the major flaws... Like the head sitting on the shoulder!

For the prices SSC is charging, I think it's ok to give them a friendly jab once and awhile.

... who would we be if not disappointed that the most iconic villain of the past few generations doesn't look like he should? we wouldn't be freaks... we would simply be consumers. this is freaking Darth Vader! show some respect and get the dome right.

:lecture :lecture :lecture :exactly: :lecture :lecture :lecture

The old Marmit Vader proto, which as per Vader specialists was not 100% accurate either, was still 10 light years ahead of what we've seen so far from SSF. Hopefully the finished Vader product will be better. We'll see...

this concern is a great testament to the original helmet... who would we be if not disappointed that the most iconic villain of the past few generations doesn't look like he should? we wouldn't be freaks... we would simply be consumers. this is freaking Darth Vader! show some respect and get the dome right.

:clap :goodpost:

This guy better also be in a more accurate scale. If he towers over DX Bespin Luke the way the ANH version does in OMG's pics, I'm out. Sorry SS, Kevin Peter Hall was NEVER dressed as Vader in the films (right now he looks pretty big compared to the Snowtrooper).

Marmit is still unrivaled as the best licensed Vader never produced.

In the fanmade market... it's gonna be a whole other ballgame soon.

Sorry to be late to the party, but the hoth pic from Facebook doesn't show any progress in comparison with the ANH version. When I first saw the pic I saw the helmet and thought "Oh it's just the ANH version with a Snowtrooper. But when I looked at the chest box I realized that this was THE new Vader. And compared with the ANH it's even a step down in my view.
Especially the shoulder armor is way to small to look right. Even the ANH version was better.
And it also looks like he is still a little to tall to be screen accurate. In the pic we see Vader with the Snowtrooper and it looks like they fixed the height problem. But when you look closer you see that the trooper is a few inches in the background. So when you would set him next to Vader, Vader would still be to tall :monkey2

I hope we will see some improvement in the next preview

I'm still going to purchase it. I just looked @ my ANH Vader and the box is huge compared to the new Vader pic. Yeah the helmet, mask, etc are off.

I have been checking FB & no comment from SSC regarding the new Vader. Oh well....:dunno

I don't see any new improvements either, but I think it's that way on purpose.

Hope this figure is a "Reveal" version.

It is. Sideshow has already stated (and it has been brought up repeatedly here) that he will come with helmeted head, also the helmet in pieces (with a separate stand ala' the 1:1 bust), and the reveal piece. The helmet pieces are not "wearable" but merely accessories for him to hold or put on the special display stand.

:peace

Eh... :dunno Hasbro dome plus Kaiyodo-Screamin head/face gives you the same thing. (kidding:lol)

What do you mean by the fanmade market - is that Marmit going to become available as a casting?

The height doesn't bug me. I'm going to replace the body with an HT Pred anyway, but I need that armor and the Sebastian sculpt to be perfect!
I will say that, in the pic, the cape seems to be sitting nicely!
