Sideshow Darth Maul Sixth Scale Figure

Cool..pretty weak exclusive. Debating between this and Death Star Gunner with my $50 off coupon. To date I have NO prequel so it might be an odd ball. Have original trilogy, Force Awakens and Rogue One. All empire.

Thoughts on how to improve the ankle articulation? And by improve I mean give it any at all?

I've looked for similar styled boots but there are few options for short boots with the top overlaid on top to allow for ankle pivot. I just hate having the hasbro looking style boots on an otherwise great figure.

While it's true that HT(And even SS themselves), have moved on with leaps and bounds making two-piece boots that have articulation at the ankle, the boots that were worn in the movie were Frank Thomas Titan 101 motorbike boots, and those have hardly any lateral articulation in real life. It has no bearing on a 1/6 figure, but those kinds of boots are supposed to be fairly rigid in case you fall off the bike to protect your ankle. They have a little up and down movement so you can use the back brake and shift through the gears, but won't move much side to side.
It comes back to the old conundrum of whether you want it accurate to the actual boot, or want more posability. Half will want ultimate accuracy, and half will want a bit of ankle motion. Sideshow probably went with the easiest answer. A solid boot, like real life.
For someone who wants them a bit more movement, i expect if you bought a loose pair of boots and a TDKR pair of bootleg Batman boots(Which have separate shoes and boot sleeves), you could cut up the maul boots and slide them over the batman boot sleeves to get movement.
Seems a lot of work unless you are going to be posing him doing the splits in your detolf, lol.

I'll be using HT Nick Fury boots from the first Avengers movie. They are not accurate but look sofisticated, not completely Earth-like, and are pleather. Maul will rock in them.

The Avengers Nick Fury boots are rubber.
I just picked up a set of two piece Arkham Batman boots for possible use with Maul. I'll see how they look when they arrive.

Regarding the Batman boots:

"I had one other nit to go along with the slightly vacant look. I'm not a huge fan of these boots, not in any version, but here they are particularly dopey looking. They went with a two piece construction, which does allow the ankles more mobility. But the long tongue on the upper that protects the top of the foot also makes it look weirdly small. The upper and lower boot don't line up all that well in most poses either, so while you can adjust the feet to lay flat on the floor, the upper boot won't match up."

I have quite an extensive vocabulary and I am usually quite sesquipedalian . I know what pliable means.
I bought several pairs of Fury boots back when they were available. They are not pliable in any way that would help with posing.

I am not native English-speaking. I ignored what pliable meant, had to look it up, and thought more people would need it, or even the term could be misunderstood. I was just being proactive at making it clear what the reviewer was meaning. No offence to those already knowing the term.

I didn't took your post as an attack. Sorry if it looked like that. Quite on the contrary. I was this close to buy the Batman boots on eBay for some other custom project. I had to discard them because of the 2nd review.

Finally: I do own an Avengers Nick Fury. It is still boxed. I'll have a look at those boots soon and come back to tell.
But... incidentally... Have you actually had a look at the pictures in the NF review? There are some where the figure takes some mildly dynamic stances and where the feet are flush on the ground. Aren't they? Wouldn't that mean they are in fact pliable?

Damn thats a nice shot! The sabre sets it off big time, would love to know where you got it and if theyre available to other folks.

Also, your pic makes me glad I kept my Medi Maul, its still a great figure. Hiding with the hood, or fixing the long neck is really the only thing that needs to be done on him to IMO.
