:monkey2:monkey2:monkey2 Ah man.... I remember the day my son was born. He's almost two now.... It's funny, at first the growth was so fast I found myself wishing he would just stop so I could have that sweet little infant boy to hold in my arms forever.... I had no idea that it actually gets better and better. :) Running, playing, talking etc..... He's currently in love with Toy Story.:lol

Yes, the growing up part is bittersweet. My son just turned 6 and my daughter is 4. Time just seems to fly by these days, so I'm trying to enjoy all these moments before they become jaded rebellious teens, lol.

You know, I hear that so much... "they grow up so fast". That actually hasn't been my experience at all... lol. I work out of the house so I've been there for every single poop, peep, tooth, step, scream, meal, fall, diaper change, bath, vaccination, speech, park visit... You name it. Sometimes, time has a way of feeling like it's moving at a snail's pace... lol.

I realize people work and don't often have more than an hour a day to give their kids. In cases like that, I can certainly see how it might feel like a kid's childhood years are zooming by. On the other hand, believe me when I say that being around them 24/7 is enough to drive you absolutely insane... lol. I never could have imagined how much time and energy they require.

As much as I love them to death, I don't see myself missing the baby/toddler years that much. While it's fabulous in bits and pieces, in larger doses you are truly risking your mental health... lol.

I totally know what you mean. My other nephew just turned two and it's ridiculous thinking he used to be just like this newborn. Time has gone by so fast. He used to just be able to say the first syllable of my name but now he's able to say my name very clearly and it just warms my heart. Truly is some amazing stuff.

I would say it's a mixed blessing. I am fortunate that my company lets me keep my medical insurance if I work a minimum of 20 hours/week. Financially I need to work 5 days/week, but I only work 3 to be home with them while they're young. I absolutely wanted to rip my hair out, today - my three year old was attached to me like a third leg and my four year old was a complete chatterbox. I couldn't really get anything done around the house (and we leave for Cabo, tomorrow). I know I'll miss them, but I really would like to have a break. As far as "missing" their baby/toddler years, my best advice to anyone is to take lots of pictures...I don't think anyone could PAY me to go through the whole baby thing, again - I'm 98% (not 100%) glad it's over.

I'm glad I have a niece and I wouldn't trade her for any little boy in the world. Gender is something you can't help, and gender is something you can't hate. It certainly doesn't bother my brother and his wife, they're still going to get her into martial arts and soccer; two "masculine" extra-curricular activities.

Besides, buying her Disney Princess crap is much more fun than buying her Pixar Cars crap. :)

And yes, I LOVE the idea of being the kooky aunt. My younger brother is content to be the grumpy uncle. :)

Being the kooky Aunt is terrific, we get to see the kids, take care of them but give them back when screaming :lol

I got into Karate when I was a little lass and loved it!, I think I was 13 or something when I started. I may not be able to use it now but I am a black belt.
It's something I would recommend all parents to take their kids to. It's good fun, teaches discipline, strength and how to defend themselves when necessary.

It sounds like your little cutie niece is gonna be well looked after.

Oh and I agreee, Disney stuff is much better :hi5: (although I do love PIXAR stuff, just not Cars)
