Super Freak
I wouldn't normally write a new thread on my con experience but this one was pretty darn special, so here goes. I'll try to keep it from getting too wordy. I'll just hit the highlights.
Wed - Started out by doing a cosplay photo shoot: Me, my Son and a couple of friends.
While we were doing that, a guy from Disney XD was there, and asked if me and my Son could come by the offsite Disney Infinity popup store on Thursday so he could play the game and be interviewed about it!
Thurs - Spent the day in Hall H (walked right in like you usually can on Thurs). At 4pm we left and did the Disney Infinity thing. If you watch XD, you might recognize Morgan in this photo. My Son played the game while Morgan interviewed both of us about it. We'll be on some commercial for the game on XD some time next month.
Fri - I got there at 5am to get a good spot in line because we really wanted to see the Marvel TV panel (Agent Carter / Agents of SHIELD). Highlight of the day was my Son getting up all by himself to ask a question (his question to Agent Grant Wards was "How dare you?")
After SHIELD, I headed straight for the Hall H line for Saturday. My Wife has a disability so I was 3rd in the disabled line, instead of being in the gigantic regular line. Sixteen hours in line for Hall H. Completely out of my mind, right?
Well, at 2:15am I was awakened by a commotion, and woke up to find that Andy Serkis and Lee Pace, who were appearing in the Hobbit panel at 10:30 the next morning were there taking pictures with the fans at the front of the line.
Lee tweeted out this group photo, which was on CNN, MTV and other sites:
Saturday morning - FRONT ROW IN HALL H!!!!!
Photo of the Hobbit panel (my camera can't go any wider than this)
Then, we had a hookup with the Marvel booth, so my Wife and Son left Hall H on a bathroom pass, and got my Son's movie poster (which I customized in Photoshop if you notice) autographed by the cast!
Then, as they are standing there getting autographs, my Son (in his Coulson costume) pulls out his Cap trading cards, just to show them to Chris Evans. Chris says "I can sign those for you if you want" and my Son says "sure!" he signs one, and my Son starts to put them away. Chris says "I can sign them all" and my Son says "nah, I'm good". My Wife jumps in and says YES PLEASE, SIGN THEM ALL! So....
Then, finally, FRONT ROW IN HALL H FOR AGE OF ULTRON!!!!
Un freaking believeable.
Finally a pic of my Son and I on Sunday (just walked around the exhibit hall all day looking at stuff and taking photos with people). You may recognize the other two dudes.
The end. Going to be pretty hard to top that one.
