Ok, he responded to me saying that they are region B, but they will play in any Blu-Ray player. I not too keen on B-rays yet, but that's not true right?? I haven't recieved the Blu-Rays yet, they should be here by Tuesday though. I went back and looked at the pics, noticed the stickers and did some research.

New Line has been incorporated into WB but I think the distribution of NL films in DVD or BD are still with Entertainment in Video so they very well may be region locked.

Just got a new message, he says: "it is the UK release of this set but as are 70% of ALL Blu-Rays, they are region free, and WILL play."

So what do you guys think?

I think it's locked. Seller must just think it's region free because the US version is. I would return it and get my money back.

Looking around online, it looks like LOTR on Blu-ray was an EIV release in the UK and is confirmed to be region locked, unlike the region free US release from WB.

Region coding
Region A (no playback)
Region B (confirmed)
Region C (no playback)

I have purchased several Blu-ray movies from Amazon UK, but they all have the ABC Region Free logo on them--if it just says Region B, it won't work on a US player. The seller is probably under the (misinformed) impression that it will play, but it won't.

The seller had an error in the listing and will owe you your money back. He just has to decide whether he wants you to send him back an opened or unopened box for your refund. There's not much he's going to be able to do with the package once it's been unwrapped, tested, and proven unviewable in the US.

That you should have just gone to Best Buy. :wink1:

My Best Buy still has a few with the sword. It's actual cheaper than the set without the sword. :dunno

Yeah, I know:lol the Wal-Mart near me had tons of these in-stock early last week, and I went there on Thursday and come to find out the vendor took them all away because they weren't selling at all.

Walmart has limited space and will only keep something for a short period of time. If it isn't selling like crazy, it will be gone. They don't keep box sets for long.

Stop buying stuff from ebay and save your allowance for Best Buy? :huh As a general rule, with coding and the like, as far as media is concerned, buy it retail from the U.S. or you'll always run this risk. The only surefire worry free option for BRs is Porn. But you don't have to worry about that until your balls drop. :p
