My first custom base/stand (Predator)

This is my first attempt at a custom base for my predator collection. I used super sculpey original clay for this part. I'm planning on putting an Alien egg pod in the crater. Tell me what you guys think

This is a rough sculpt so far. I'm going to add the details to the outer part of the egg and on the base where the pred is standing

Im having trouble with the texture on the egg pod. Anyone have any advice? Im trying to make it look slimy as it did in the movies.

I would rely on the paint to make it look slimed rather then sculpting, clear gloss on strategic spots and build it up?

What paint should I use for the base? I have never painted clay before and I have no idea on what brand, or type of paint.

use acrylic paint-easy to work with despite its quick drying time- if you want to model alot i would recommend an airbrush gun and a compressor for bigger colouring work and brushes for details. check out some tutorials in the web about washings, dry brushing, weathering, clear coating and so on
