Another new project.....I'm a big fan of HQ. Recently looked for some HQ customs and found one that a fellow Freak did a very nice job with using the Phicen Rayne 1.0 figure as a base. I loooove the Arkham HQ look, so I'm going for something similar though not exact.

Anyway, early stages here....Here is the base figure:

I've always liked HQ's big hammer, thought it would make a cool prop for my figure. I found this photo online and loved the look of it:

Went to Lowes and bought one 1/4" diameter dowel rod and a 1 1/4" dowel rod. Cut down to size, hole drilled, added a couple of pieces of hardware, stained the wood. Hammer complete.

This is all I have so far.

Background art by Ellison Keomaka, one of my favorite Artists.

Not 100% sure exactly what I'm doing with her, but I do have some misc pieces and parts on the way courtesy of Ebay. I did play with her hair tonight, it's not as long as what I would ideally like. Actually bought a different head off of Ebay today. So I'll play with both to see what I can do to get at least one head that I'm really happy with.

Will share more photos when I make some progress.

Thanks for looking!

That is an elegant use of parts-looking good.

How do you plan to approach the facepaint? I've seen some attempts in the past that have come off too gloppy; it has to look almost dusted on.

Looking forward to the results!

Re: My Custom 1/6 Harley Quinn Figure

Thanks! Not 100% sure just yet.....which is why I bought a 2nd head and may even buy a 3rd just so I have options.

Re: My Custom 1/6 Harley Quinn Figure

good start! nice job with the hammer!

the hair is always a problem, innit? i'm still messing with mine.

: D

Re: My Custom 1/6 Harley Quinn Figure

Thanks! Got some paints n parts showing up sporadically so no further progress just yet. For now I just pulled it back as shown, will likely futz with it further later. Not terrible. But def a PITA.

Def loving the look of the hammer. Might take one of the two flamethrower pistols that came with it and sculpt it into something more "Harley".

Re: My Custom 1/6 Harley Quinn Figure

Thanks, and thanks to everyone who recommended the Vallejo paints, they worked like a charm on that fabric. Very nice paint.

Re: My Custom 1/6 Harley Quinn Figure

Looks very cool. Maybe you should consider doing a short run of these.

Re: My Custom 1/6 Harley Quinn Figure

LOL I have no idea what I'm doing and haven't even finished this one yet. Patience.... ;)

ps. I'll take that as a compliment.

Re: My Custom 1/6 Harley Quinn Figure

hey if you want you can hire me to reroot her with a ponytail center part in two collors. bbi has soft heads re-rooting is easy for them it's cutting snd styling thats a challenge with a permanant set.

Re: My Custom 1/6 Harley Quinn Figure

Appreciate the offer. For now I'd prefer to do everything myself, despite the fact that I have no idea what I'm doing. That's the fun of it.

I have two heads to play with, if I eff them both up beyond recognition, then you'll be hearing from me. :)

Re: My Custom 1/6 Harley Quinn Figure

Next WIP photo. This is the second head that I bought off of Ebay. Longer, blonde hair works much better than the short red hair that came with the Phicen Rayne figure.

For now I just have the pigtails tied back and I colored the ends with a pair of copic markers from Michael's. Far from finished, but just wanted to see all of the pieces put together. Still not 100% certain if I'll stick with this head, the Babydoll head looks much better IMO and already has pigtails that I like....but that's another $40. ;)

More to come!

Re: My Custom 1/6 Harley Quinn Figure

Hey that's a good idea with the Babydoll head! Ponytails are a tricky thing with these plastic hair.

Re: My Custom 1/6 Harley Quinn Figure

That's the head that another Freak used for his HQ custom, so that's where I got the idea. ;)

Still playing with this one first though. If I like the results enough, I probably won't buy the Babydoll head. I do know that they have different joints, so I'd have to deal with that as well...

Re: My Custom 1/6 Harley Quinn Figure

Oh do you have a link to the pics? Would really like to see his figure :)

Re: My Custom 1/6 Harley Quinn Figure

Thanks! Quite a nice figure. With a slightly better makeup the Babydoll head can look really nice as Harley!

Re: My Custom 1/6 Harley Quinn Figure

Well my HQ is mostly done I think. I've been searching around for clothes etc. and found some things that I like....I may end up doing a 2nd completely different HQ custom. We'll see. But for now here is this one. Questions, comments and suggestions are always welcome!
