[Kato Work] The making of Medicom Kamen Rider genuine leather suit

This is the unavoidable fate that all kind of pleather (PU coated) clothing will decompose serveral years after.

Eight years ago... this was my first time to make a 1:6 clothing for a figure.... I was so happy and really enjoy the time during the making of this outfit.

Now... I decide to make this outfit again by using genuine leather. It makes me feel I'm back to 8 years ago..XDD



The making of knee cap by using genuine leather :

Hand dye the knee cap into black

Beewax is applied for polishing

polishing

Knee cap completed!

This is again made of genuine leather. ( It will never decompose anymore ...XDDD)

Fitting

handye horse hide leather to black in color

Beewax is added and then polishing

The pants is completed

This is quite tight fit around the shoulder area.

This is the Kamen Rider outfit I made 7 years ago, the fitting look unacceptable to me now.. of course the pleather is started to disintergate as well.


left : new leather pants
right : old pleather pants



The fitting of the new pants is better

Excellent! Dam! All that work on the pleather version for it to rot away. Does all pleather rot after say seven years? or is it a certain type of pleather or environment it is kept in?

Nearly all kind of "PU" pleather is not durable especially in humid area ( like my city HK ), but unfortunately nealy all figure outfit are made of pleather rather than genuine leather.
