it has more to do with the artwork and craftsmanship from the good ole days of SWS that gets me. Dinos are cool and all in general, but having something from original movie molds is pretty exciting. I only collect movie and comic stuff.
I saw the thread title and was so happy, then I read.
Such a shame, what a waste of a licence!
I've constantly asked Sideshow in there Q&A and it's never been answered.

Good news for anyone like me who loves the Papo T-Rex but wish it had been painted in a different color.
Apparently, Papo has discontinued production of the green version and has put out a brown version for 2012.
Just got mine in today off eBay, it's perfect for me, exactly how I wish the green one had been painted. I don't know if it's perfect to actual Rex in the movies but I have a JP T-Rex collectible I'm really happy with and that's all that counts. Wish someone would do more, and bigger.
I wonder if Papo got heat for being so close to the Winston designs, the new running one looks almost liek a mix of Winston's Rex and the 2005 King Kong V-Rex.
That one'd be great for a Lost World display. Buy him along with the old green T-Rex and get them next to a customized toy RV. With the right customizing, you could have one nifty diorama.
Green is the Male from the Lost World, brown is the female from the first film. Also the males face was sculpted and designed to have a bonier look to better distinguish it from the female.
Brown Female- 1st film
Green Male on the left, Brown Female on the right.- The Lost World
It doesnt, and your right, it does look more like the V-Rex from the 2005 King Kong. Though the digit count on the 'hands' is wrong, should have a thumb attachment. Would be nice if they did a Kong looking gorilla to follow.
Here is the original Green Papo Rex Male to compare to the Brown Female.-
Male/Green-
Female/Brown-
Looks as though Papo resculpted the head properly to represent the Jurassic Park female.
I definitely prefer the brown, probably because the male's never really seen in daylight in LW, so brown's the only color you really get a clear glimpse of in the first 2 films, and I don't count anything from 3
Here's an old photo of my green one.
That I can spot, the differences in the heads are subtle, but there are some. Most noticable, they made the teeth sharper and better, which is fine by me, get it right on my favorite
One of the few things ion Jackson's Kong that I really liked was the concept of the dinosaurs continuing to evolve.Once I thought about it a bit, it made perfect sense.'Bout the only thing that did...PS
Some pics of the new Papo Rex's from Dan's Dinosaurs :
I think I also figured out what happened to the new Rex's mouth :
A steady diet of ankylosaur will easily do that.. lol ;D
The new brown " perching " Rex :
If you look closely you can see several differences in the new and old Papo Rex. It's odd..it looks like the new one would have come first..it's quite a bit more detailed. The teeth are sharper..everything looks more crisp and not soft at all. The bottom jaw is different as well..it's not near as thick looking. All in all definitely worth getting it even if you have the green one.
alittle fun fact but the first jurassic park rex was the biggest predator in any jurassic park movie so if it was pitted agaist the spino from JP3 the spino wouldnt stand a chance.
Quite correct. We're talking the difference between a bone-crusher and a fish-eater. When the Rex got the Spino's neck in his jaws, that fight should have been over.Gotta wonder how many kids were screwed up by that one...PS
