just 11 or 12 years ago PC games used to be the dominant seller at game stores and in game sections at retail stores. Console games used to be hidden behind the PC titles, now unless the title is AAA ranked like WoW, you can't even find it on a shelf, you would be lucky to find it in a bargain bin somewhere. I remember being in a store that was nothing but PC games (can't remember the name now). Also there was a place called the Bunker that was in the mall (for all the freaks in central PA, you may remember) across the river, I think the Camphill mall, that had a LAN set up and you could go there and play multiplayer PC games. It just amazes me that console games have come so far that we no longer need to be in one location to play against our friends, and that is only about 5 years old. i remember playing Halo 1 split screen with McHavyck and some friends at his house and having to take turns because it was only 4 player multiplayer on one xbox.
Sorry I am over feeling nestalgic now.

Console is just easier. You can walk in and buy the game and know it will run on your 360 with no problems. PC you have to make sure your ram and video card ect will run it.

That's what I tell PCers, and then their reply is, "well you have to buy a new system in a few years anyways, no different than upgrading your PC every few years".......it just goes back and forth, worthless argument.

Yep! I used to love PC games but having to get them to work just plain sucks at times. Consoles are far easier.

I remember the first time a friend and I got modem play on Doom 1 to work.

That was amazingly fun back in the day!

That's always been my way of thinking. I've never owned a PC that could play every game that came out for 4+ years. With consoles, I know I get that and then some.

Never really got into PC games except for the occasional RTS.

No arguments from me on that one. I agree. But this was just meant as a look back at how consoles changed us from gathering together in friends basements to playing and chatting with someone thousands of miles away.

That's something that has bothered me. I loved the basement years. Now it's really hard to get a game together with RL friends online or otherwise because of responsibilities or whatnot. Getting old sucks. :monkey2

I remember going to Software, Etc. in the mall, and 2 of the walls were PC games, and the other wall was split up amongst the console games.

Speaking of, where did Gamestop come from?? I remember Electronics Boutique and Software, Etc. were the two main chains. Did SE re-brand into Gamestop??

man getting the damn video/graphics card config'd and working sucked monkey balls. glad those days are over but I really didn't play too many games on the computer other than Doom, Quake, etc. i do remember my buddy had some kind of Apple/McIntosh computer back in like 83-85 when we were really young and we played the hell out of castle wolfenstein and some bruce lee game. back when it had atari-like graphics. lemonaide stand was fun too.

but yeah for the reasons mentioned, consoles are the way to go for gaming...thank you Xbox for furthering the contributions of atari, nintendo, sega and sony.

What amazes me even more is that 11 to 12 years ago I actually had to rent porn :google

Thank you Internet!

I haven't had a computer to play games on for like 6 or 7 years. All I really miss is Command and Conquer type games.

100% agree.

PCs are just a bad investment for gaming. And even when you have all the money to throw around for upgrades, these days the developer talent is concentrated on the consoles.

:lol You probably knew you were the last one to have it before it had to be thrown away because the winders refused to turn anymore :lol

Speaking of renting porn... does anyone remember the back room of West Coast video stores? :lol

Now we are reduced to picking up man whores in Bloodstone while playing Fable 2!!
