I try to stay very focused with my collection but I can see at least Whisper creeping in...

So any word on when and where we can p/o?

These look really nice.
I must also say this is the most appropriate name for a line of statues ever.... :monkey1

Whisper stills blows me away. No pun. The attention to detail is phenomenal: the translucent dive suit, the pose, the gear, the little details like the ankle bracelet, the natural position of the fingers on the hip, the tangle of snorkel and ponytails, the way the back of her foot wrinkles.... it's got to be one of the BEST statues I've ever seen, and not just because it's sexy as all hell.

I have no statues, and no 'sexy girls' in my collection... but I am very tempted with this one piece.

these statues are conservative, compared to a lot of what's out there.

I like well made, unique pieces - and these fit the bill. I have almost no female statues in my collection and am very interested in getting all of these.

for the record, I am happily married with 2 little ones on the way.

Btw sucker punch sweet pea is exactly the the same quality. That's why when I got her I wouldn't shut up about it. I was saying how much better the quality was than SS or any other company. The last sucker punch girl is also the same quality just google it and see the details on it. It's insanely good. GG has raise the bar on quality scuplts. :clap

What makes this line pointless to me is if you *do* feel the need to get a "sexy" statue why not buy one of the zillions of girly statues that actually has respectable source material? Even the new Shaak Ti is just as sexy/sexier than this line-up and at least you can maintain the pretense that you're more of a sci-fi/Star Wars collector than outright perv.

That said if I *was* a perv then it'd be Racing Girl all the way. A real engine revver. ;)
by "respectable", you mean of course, any other fictional fantasy women in scantily clad outfit.

shaak ti? the one from phantom menace? and here i thought phantom menace and "respectable" do not belong in the same sentence.

Nothing at all! As long as you're okay with the stigma that a statue might bring you.

Because like it or not, a statue like these says one of two things about you:

1. I'm a desperate loser and trashy statues are the closest I'll ever get to a "real" girl.

or

2. I can get a real girl but I don't have any respect for them.

Both of which are pretty conterproductive to actually attracting a gal who *looks* like she could have modeled for one of those statues. Face it, "desperation" and "disrespect" are deal breakers for a lot of ladies. So take your pick, polystone or flesh and blood. ;)

Disclaimer #1: Just because your collection might announce desperation or disrespect it doesn't mean that is TRUE. Its just something that you'll have one heck of a time explaining or compensating for.

Disclaimer #2: Yes I know there are a few cute girls who post on this very forum who DO like these kinds of statues. They are SO the exception to the rule. :lol ;)
since you're making a wild generalization about those who like these statues, let me make one about you as well:

1. you hate sexy women
2. you're gay(and there's nothing wrong with it)

artists from the renaissance to the present love sexy women. they love to draw them, to sculpt them, to write vivid descriptions about them, to imagine and dream about them. there's nothing wrong for artists to create dream women, just as there's nothing wrong for non-artist to enjoy, appreciate, and own such creations. man is man. owning this statue is no worse than having a nude painting hanging on your wall, or a playboy subsription, or browsing for porn, or oogling your cute classmate and co-worker. man is man. perversion has nothing to do with it.

the only stigma you'll get for having the sexy statues above is that you love sexy women; which is already a much better stigma than what you'll get by having any dc/marvel female statue around - you love sexy women too, but she must have cartoonish face, exaggerated body proportion, and wear colorful silly disco era spandex, a.k.a. you have a silly notion about women.

i'm happily married to a woman(neither deformed nor imaginary), been together for almost 10 years. and i do enjoy looking at victoria secrects models, i enjoy seeing nicole kidman naked on films, i enjoy watching porn, i enjoy sexy statues. what does that say?

yes, we can appreciate a beautifully made statue as what it is. it comes down to the design and execution. everybody can sculpt sexy naked women, but not everybody can turn them into art.

sweetpea = art
whisper = art

spiderwoman pf = junk
scarlet witch pf = junk

my opinion. yes, those who disagree can hate me if that can make them feel better.

"desperate losers", "pack of dogs"... hmm... so that's how one can be a mod here, i see. one must be:

1. gay
2. has dirty mouth

hard hard requirements. i will never be a mod here then. me so sad.

disclaimer:
pardon me if you're not a real mod but just playing as one.

I certainly don't equate forum members to a pack of dogs (some of my literal "friends" here are buying these statues and didn't take offense) but I did find that particular quote appropriate given your reaction.

My original point stands. And if you think "respecting women = gay" then hey have fun with that. :wave

Whoa, whoa, now boys. Seems like we might need a moderator for our moderator.

While I wish Cr' had gone about his argument very differently, and kept the silly personal attacks out of it, it does seem that you have an agenda here, Khev. I am very dubious of the idea that you might do better in a relationship simply because every piece in your collection is licensed. I’ve always believed you should own what you dig, and you should own that you dig it. It’s usually way more about the guy himself, than what he has on his shelves, anyway. What really sends the women running for the hills is a squirrely guy who’s inclined to be ashamed. When most women are choosing between a cool, decent man who happens to have his den wallpapered with Sorayama prints (99% of which are the creations of one man’s imagination, by the way, and not tied to any license), or a sketchy customer who rationalizes his collection with the idea that it’s okay because that lady in the skimpy see-through panties climbing out of a coffin statue or the half-naked one in the over-sexualized pose with the insanely oversized chest is based on this or that esoteric cult property…the decent guy usually wins. Heck, you could have a room full of Rodin originals and shelves full of Shakespeare, but if you are a weeny…she’s gonna leave you because you are a weeny.

But if it makes you feel any better, I just watched a video where the GG rep explained it like this: If they were an animation studio, they would have made a cartoon first; if they were a comic company, they would have made a graphic novel first; then the statues might follow a few years down the line. But they are a collectibles company and collectibles are what they do best; so they started there. He said the other stuff is in the works, but requires partnering with outside entities in all likelihood, and will take a little time. In the meantime, they added a couple pretty cool pieces to this hobby we all enjoy. Doesn't seem like anything to get so stressed out about.

Anyway, that’s just my two cents. And remember, if something isn’t your cup of tea, you can always change the channel.

Why, did I bypass the language filter? Just kidding. ;)

I didn't say "licensed" I said "from respectable source material." Key word: respectable. "Star Wars" is at least a big enough name of a non-sexually gratuitous nature that if someone sees Leia in a bikini for instance they don't make the same association as say seeing a Kardashian chick in similar attire. Hence my tongue in cheek reference to Shaak Ti vs. these GG gals.

I really don't think you become this self-assured badass because you're into your own stuff. Ralphie's dad in A Christmas Story lived for his "major award" while his wife rolled her eyes and ultimately laughed at him behind his back. Who wants to be that guy in *real* life?

But just to clarify since one person obviously tried to skew my point by taking specific quotes out of context: I am not holier than thou and throwing rocks at dogs and losers. I'm just another dog.

I think certain statues are hot and sexy and all that but I just know that if I buy them and display them on a pedestal *in my house* I've got some 'splaining to do, and not just to the missus. ;)

Helluva first post.

I'm fairly new to this level of collecting and only have Hot Toys as that's more my thing. This is the first I have seen or heard of GG so I'll have check those out. Thanks for the info!

EDIT: Wow. I agree. They did a helluva job on her. I had seen some of those and just didn't realize who made them nor had I studied them very closely. I should have. That's some amazing work. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. That right there is the difference between a scale replica and art.

GG will probably just do prints, but it would be nice if they got someone to do comics with these characters. Even something like 3A does with their Adventure Kartel figures would be nice.
