Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - VGM18 - Batman: Arkham City: Batman Collectible Figure (Specs + Pi

I sure would like to see some pics of this "rubber deterioration" everyone is talking about. To go along with these pics, an explanation of how and where the figure was displayed. I mean I really hope people don't display there figures directly under a light for months to years on end in the same pose. Or I hope people do not constantly mess with the figure five times a day for a year. I think improper knowledge of the collectors of how/where to display and handle high end figures are the problem here, not hot toys.

I think its pretty hilarious how so many people are saying pass when the figure isn't even final yet.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - VGM18 - Batman: Arkham City: Batman Collectible Figure (Specs + Pi

I think this is the case. At the end of the day, this figure will sell pretty equally well, whether or not they use rubber (which HT has an obviously mixed track record with). Many folks don't know about what they've done in the past, many others will rationalize that it won't decay quickly for this or that reason, and the group who learned to steer clear because of past problems will not cause a figure to be a sales failure. And folks make a fair argument that it would be hard to do this costume with some other kind of material. Though I'm sure a textured cloth could be found and used if HT wanted to expend those resources, it probably wouldn't be the most cost effective move since so many will be satisfied with rubber.
Sure - good points, & this will likely sell very well no doubt. There's no guarantee we'll see a 2.0 of this though, let alone a drastically improved version.

why is that funny?? they have 4 Batman games and within those Batman games there are multiple costumes....i think arkham city had 8 alone. and who knows what the new batman game will have. its clear they making it a series cuz its called the VGM series. i think your little laughing head should be egg on your face.
Oh really, Black Label Mouth?? Why'd you skip my immediate follow up post to Ropen - the one where I acknowledged his point?

They 'announced'.. :)lol) their Joker, eons ago - where is it? That aside, who knows WHAT they'll make - do you? I'm completely aware of the game series' impact & popularity, but that doesn't instantly translate to anything other than what's on their production schedule. They've started lines before - & hung them up abruptly, many times. It wouldn't surprise me if they made Joker after this & move on. They might do an 'Origins' Batman at some point, but who knows. :huh :moon

You do know that VGM stands for VideoGame Masterpiece, right? Just like MMS stands for Movie Masterpiece Series? The fact this one figure is part of that series is no guarantee there will be other figures from this game.
:exactly:

This problem existed and has been well documented long before Jun 2014 and 51 posts ago :lol

Keep mocking me. Prove me wrong. I am sorry if some people do not know how to display collectibles.

LED lights to brighten the display case, change pose every other month to keep joints and materials from cracking/breaking. Not that hard.

Oh wait. You mean to tell me people have there figures under a bright lamp in the same pose for years. And then these same people complain about conditions of there figure?

You're embarrassing yourself.

Huskie.. :lol

Do some reading around here, honestly. As Lejuan said, there are documented cases on these boards - as well as other boards, so off you go.

Start with the Watchmen Comedian, DX02 Nolan Batman & recent ED-209 Hot Toys threads.

Yes. Listen to this man.

But seriously, my comedian was never posed or handled with that often. Inside a detolf with some silica gel pack with window cover shut 24/7. Still it leaks and melted like a cheese on an oven. Not immediately but over the course of 2 years.

I know that. Do not assume I don't. Funny thing is that nobody has actually answered my full question, they are just being ignorant and assuming post count and join date equal intelligence level. So, do these people actually display there collectibles correctly? Or are they just as ignorant with there collectibles as they are on these boards???

It's nothing to do with lights or posing. The rubber just cracks and deteriorates. It possibly reaction with the air, who knows. My. DX 02 came coated in oil and started to wear away.

Do you live in a tropical climate?

Air conditioning or no air?

Lots of different factors at play to attribute to this.
