So the master of horrible pics is back with my next offering. Tatooine Biggs. He will continue to be on the lookout for happenin' brown leather pants and a cool cape, but my TT showed today and I couldn't wait to share him.

This bromance was so bad, even Lucas thought it should be cut!!

And Hewer, it's just Yavin Luke's jacket. I'm not really knowledgeable about fabrics and stuff yet. Tried to bleach it and it didn't work. Wasn't sure if dye would work, so I didn't bother. It's just spray painted, then I painted the trim black and the insignia thing there red.

Now I need to think of another secondary (or thirdiary) character to try! SS has covered a good chunk of the ANH main players and I'm confident the Tarkins, Greedos, and Sandpeople will come so I don't know that I want to put too much energy into those. I may have to get out of the ANH bubble.

That is so cool, Darth. That's a great likeness too. I loved those Biggs scenes depicted in the Marvel comic adaptation and novel (which I had read before seeing the movie at the tender age of 12). I was so disappointed that they were cut out

You know the more I look at it, that Biggs head isnt awful.

Getting ready to bash a Biggs X-Wing pilot, these pics make me think that that head may work with a little work.

V2

I'm re-doing my customs as I've sold all of my V1's for various reasons. Biggs was one of my first bashes when I joined, and he's gonna be the 1st one I'm doing upon my return.

The nice thing is I've learned a bunch and hopefully that will make them better.

For V2 Biggs, I'm using the same Ignite tunic I used the first time. It was a good find before and I saw no reason to improve it. It's a nice blue and I like the material.

I'm also using the Yavin Luke jacket again. It is not correct of course, as it has no chest pockets or shoulder straps. However I do like the trim (where the zipper would be). The fact that that matches trumps the things that don't. BUT....I have tweaked it more. I have removed this material this time around:

And I have moved the rank badge up:

After painting it white, instead of off white, and moving the rank badge to actually cover the open spot on the Yavin coat, this is what I have now:

I also chose to paint the trim blue instead of the black it was on V1. I believe the blue is more accurate. I also took the liberty of adding the sleeve thing, which takes it one step closer:

The Lando cape was NFG. This cape is from Electronic Hasbro Vader (needed the dome anyway for later). I like the way it lays. It IS way big, so I trimmed it up some:

The hideous brown courderoy pants will be replaced with leather ones. I intended to before, but never got around to it. Hopefully they get here before vacation!!

I'm keeping him on a SS body this time. There isn't enough posability needed to justify a HT upgrade.

Its a lot of fun going back and revisiting customs you did a couple of years ago isnt it? Its crazy how much you can learn here. Are you going to redo all of your Yavin Rebels??

Yeah, I debated posting re-dos...been there-done that and all, but it's still the only Toshi (Tosche) Station Biggs out there, so I figured what the heck. I removed that from the title so I can put my future X-Wing Biggs in here too. I'm gonna revisit some guys you've done in the past too

Who cares if you are posting pictures of re-dos, the more pictures the better. Your customs are awesome my friend!

This custom is waaay cool! Was going through some SW custom withdrawals this past week (was everyone on vacation?), and this is a great dose of ANH goodness! Always liked this incarnation of Biggs, I'm disappointed that a clean print of this has never been included on a SW release as a deleted scene or reincorporated into a "Super-SE Anniversary Edition" cut of the movie or something. If Lucas was clever, he'd have a seamless-branching option for this scene on the blu ray - but he's just gotten old, lazy, and greedy so I'm sure we'll have to wait at least another 10 years...

I like the direction your redo is taking! If I might make one small suggestion? The Hasbro sculpt is sound, but the head looks a little too 'vinyl' next to the high-end releases of the past decade. I think a repaint would really make that sucker POP! The costume looks wonderful, though. I wish I had the instincts for costume bashing that folks like you and Chaka seem to have...I have about five Cantina alien customs that are almost done - if ONLY I could figure out how to finish off their costumes. Ah well, it'll come...

Thanks man! Yeah, i was wondering if some folks were on vaca this week too. I'm going Wed., so it's the season.

I am going a different direction with the head. I found a sculpt (not a sculptor...yet) that is similar enough to Garrick Hagon as an older guy, so I will have a crack at making hair. The sculpt is balding as he is today, and the hair is a different color, so I had to use a little imagination. I'll see if I picked the right one soon enough.

Hopefully Biggs does get some love on the BluRay release one way or another. I always liked the character as Luke's friend/big brother and I think the scenes he's in, as corny as they are, should've made the cut.

As far as picking uni's, unless you like the challenge of "discovering" them yourselves, just ask. You'll have a whole communities set of eyes and experiences. You've done great so far from what I've seen!

Latest progress pic. Biggs finally has pants! I've placed a repainted Hasbro head on for now...still working on the final head. I'm pretty content with the outfit, I think it's as good as it can be. I still have to mess with the pose, futz, whatever to get the final "look", but he looks pretty good to me. A definite improvement over my last effort.
