I totally agree that they shouldn't slow down the release of new characters to make room for redos, but if the market is there for them, and if Sideshow can make an extra easy buck which would facilitate the release of new characters, then I say go for it.
The only thing is, I don't think we...
Nor am I, but I'm just saying that compared to SW fans, I think LOTR collectors would be a bit more willing to have a hole in their collection (even in the Fellowship display) while SW collectors have more of the type that want every single character, no matter how background. :D
Wouldn't Gimli probably use the Hobbit/child body also?
I don't see Sideshow making a new body just for Gimli.
And with the way true scale is always kind of blurred in 12" lines I don't think it would be that big of a deal.
And they could possibly do a Gollum, although getting it to look cool...
Really is apples and oranges with the SW comparisons.
True, the LOTR books have been around forever, but the movies are still very new, not nearly as much time to build the kind of fanbase that SW has.
And as such, there are more SW collectors out there willing to shell out for anything and...
Got mine as well, very easy.
The figure itself looks fantastic. The new images from the order page look much better than the other pics we've seen, that it boggles the mind why the best pics aren't shown in the preview banners.
As for nit-pick criticisms, I gotta say the goatee is still too...
For me a villain or a second or third tier character (like a soldier of some kind).
There's no way we're not going to get Gandalf and all of the other principle characters in this line, so getting a more interesting character thrown in early would be kind of cool since it might not happen...
Second shot looks awesome. I'm just glad they have the hair color much more accurate than almost every other Boromir toy/sculpt where he has dark brown almost black hair.
From the first shot, the goatee looks way too thick, which is why he's got the Theoden resemblance going on. Hopefully...
Heh, sorry . . . was trying to make a bad joke about the fact that since everything gets more or less returned to status quo at the end of those episodes, if I were actually Morris Fletcher I'd have no memory of Mulder or Scully or anything . . . ermm . . . or something like that. :o :duh :p
I think it would be cool to get a not so heavyweight in fairly soon.
We know that Gandalf and Boromir and (once they get a body) the five main hobbits and Gimli should all be a total shoo-ins.
But what about Denethor, or Haldir? Or Eomer, or even Elrond?
With so many great characters, it...
Very well said.
I would be ALL ABOUT 1/6 LotR weapons/accessory packs. :joy
And although I'm not collecting (yet), they'd be a huge hit with SW as well.
