Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

I have a question for those who have seen the movie regarding Lando's supposed sexuality. I'm not interested in a debate nor advocating nor defending anything, I just want to know from the movie itself what exact interactions take place that might substantiate any claim about his sexuality? I'm not asking for interpretation of his actions or lines, or line's about him, but the actual lines and actions in question - if any. I just want the facts of the movie itself because I am also hearing that the whole things is overblown and ironically both some non LGBTQ folks are saying it was nothing, and some LGBTQ folks are saying what actually happens in the movie is nothing and so many on both "sides" of the issue are saying that nothing really happens in the movie just writers and actors making claims off screen but nothing is shown on screen. Ironically, this is upsetting both those who are "against" such things and feeling the PC world being pushed on them as well as those who are "for" it but tired of being "LGBTQ baited" (where characters are claimed by author's and actors that they are LGBTQ but it never is in the actual story or movie). So without ANY positions taken on the issue itself in either direction, what are the facts according to the actual movie?

By the way, I am sorry if this issue has been covered but I am not scanning the thread because I don't want to inadvertently pick up on any spoilers before I get a chance to see it. Also, please post your answers to my question in spoiler tags if appropriate. Thanks.

No it won't.

I can't even remember anything fun about Force Awakens, Rogue One, or The Last Jedi. After a few weeks the discussions get old and people already forget and move on to the next thing. Solo will come and go. By next year, Disney will have made 5 Star Wars movies within the span of 4 years and they're all just blending together.

Nailed it. People talked passionately about the OT for years, even if some was arguing. The pt were talked about for years, even if a lot was negative. All the new movies have a shelf life of about 2months of discussion (being largely negative at that outside of RO) at the most and then it dies off completely. Nu-SW is no longer immortal.

And in other news.... Morgan Freeman has just been accused by 8 women of sexual harassment. All the titans will fall.

Let’s see if there’s any truth to it this time or it’s just another bandwagon thing

I fully believe it.

All men in power are guilty of sexual harassment. It is inevitable

They all used their fame and celebrity status to woo women and to get hook ups.
It is no different than a guy wearing expensive clothes ir owning an expensive car to impress women.

The difference here is that celebrities dont understand no means no.

I hope he burns in hell

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

It’d be best if both sides let each other have their say and not interfere. It’s fairly obvious no one here is a bigot as some are implying, they have their reasons for not liking what’s happening. Let them not like it. Those who like it, like it. Don’t try to argue with the other side as no one is going to change anyone’s mind. Don’t demean people either because that will get them riled up and you’ll only get more of what you don’t want. This also means that you don’t post about how bad the other side is and how it never ends because your post automatically becomes another link in the chain, whether you think you’re right or not.

I highly doubt any of this will happen though :lol

And I’ll go back to just joke posting again in that case

It is totally blown out of proportion. There’s one scene where they talk about it briefly. It completely doesn’t affect the movie in any way and Lando is just a cool character.

Thank you, but what actually happens IN THE MOVIE that is getting blown out of proportion? All I hear are people arguing over how they feel about the social issue and I have no idea what the facts are of the actual movie. What happens in the scene you are referencing, what do the characters actually do or say?

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Jeez these threads are hilarious. Better than modern tv

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Nah man relax you didn't have to comment. Clearly others feel the same. the pot was stirred hundreds of pages ago by a certain group of people. If you don't want it stirred don't comment to this post ! Thanks cyaa

People are responding to what the filmmakers did
People are responding to what journalists are saying

People are literally reacting at what Kathleen Kennedy is doing to these stories

Are their reactions wrong ? Who are u to judge.
U act all high and mighty, thinking u are better than everyone else.

When will people understand these reactions and these conversations will keep happening because of the nature of these movies.....

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Yes they wanted these reactions. Honestly it feels like the people who make these movies don’t like Star Wars at all. They ****ed up almost every old character

Nothing happens in the movie. Lando just cares about L337 more than he should and L337 makes jokes about flirting and such. In your analysis above, it’s option (b) the LGBTQ baiting and pandering thing outside of the movie.

Also why is there no P in LGBTQ? Do they not count?

This. I don’t know where the outrage comes from. This film feels far removed from other Disney Star Wars films. I never felt like the movie was pandering or pushing any kind of agenda. All the characters get to shine regardless of whether they’re male or female. They’re just characters in a fun, exciting Star Wars movie.

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

Holy cow -- that's kind of ridiculous. "Thinking about it" is a type? "Allies" is a type?

What about people who want sex but haven't had it yet? Or people who have had sex but didn't want it? Or people who want too much sex... or just a little sex in a certain way... what about sexual deviants -- why aren't they represented?

:lol

Where does it end????????

Okay thanks.... someone said that Lando was "flirting" with Han, perhaps because he said to him "buckle up baby"; but the "baby" thing in that context seems to be really a stretch to see it as real flirting and not just colorful way to talk I have noticed in some real people where it has nothing to do with their sexuality. I don't know if that is what they meant by "flirting"; but just wondering what the lines or actions actually were.

But, thanks for clarifying that it sounds like baiting or pandering all out side of the movie that is causing the most attention.

Also why is there no P in LGBTQ? Do they not count?
Well, that was laziness on my part I guess because I guess I should have put a + on the end (LGBTQ+) which is meant as a catch all for the ever growing list of "sexual identities". Personally, I would say everyone counts regardless of our fight over labels and which ones are the "right" ones.

No one is acting high and mighty. Can't you just read it and stfu or take in what other people are saying. Geez, I said one post. Just cause I interrupted your circle jerk of the few people agreeing with each other for hundreds of pages. If you really want the discussion to be over just don't comment! I too was discussing the movie and what they are doing to the stories .....
