I'm checking out a coming soon sixth scale figure tonight - Artemisia, from the film 300: Rise of an Empire. This is another Star Ace outing, but unfortunately, it's not at the same level as their recent Newt. You can find my review here:

or with the rest of the reviews at the usual:

I also have a terrific guest review up from Arinjoy Mitra, who's looking at the nifty MAFEX Justice League Batman:

Thanks for reading!

Michael

Ooof, hopefully someone comes up with a better reasonably priced headsculpt to replace this one.

That's the most horrible thing I've ever seen. An unlicensed company could make thing better than that and do not ask $230.

Thanks for the comments on the outfit. I knew the portrait was going to be terrible, and the body doesn't look that great either. However I might end up getting this just for the outfit, in hopes of finding a good Eva Green sculpt down the road. I know there's a decent one floating around. Still $235 is a lot to pay for a ***/4 outfit, not to mention the extra $ for the head and body swap. Maybe I'll be able to find it cheaper or parted out. Star Ace really fell down on this line. First with the screaming portrait Themistocles (why they didn't do a regular as well is beyond me) and now with this. Since I already have the HR Leonidas I haven't paid attention to the SA version, so not sure what folks thought of that one.

You've been way too generous this time, Michael! This figure is horrible from every point of view. She looks like a man with a wig, and those exposed joints on the arms are ridiculous. The much maligned Daenerys is 100 times better than this one, came with dragons and was like $170, and yet she had the same final score than this one.

No way is this on the level of Three Zero's Daenerys.

This is a horrible, horrible figure. That headsculpt on something that costs $230?! Nope.

I've always wanted more companies to get in the 1/6th game and give us different licenses, but there is just no excuse for THAT quality at THAT price.

From Steve McQueen and Young Hermione to this is quite sad... sigh.....

I thought Leonidas was alright. Even Selene is way better this this. They still have some good releases here and there but a lot of major flops as well.

Don't want to question the Captain, and I know opinions are very objective, but this gets a **1/2 for sculpt while Selene gets a ** ???? Seriously???

I think the combination of the lanky hair and wide/flat forehead give her a very slow and plain appearance... kind of like she's related to this kid:

This looks to be the worst female figure since the original Big Chief Amy Pond. The headsculpt is ghastly.

I think the Sideshow Pamela Voorhees still takes the top spot... and I'm sure Michael will love seeing his image reused again :lol

I'd have to say yes -- this is the worst sculpt I've seen in a long, long time. Even Pamela Voorhees has an expression at least.

Eva Green reduced to what looks like a $19.99 Walmart doll.

On the plus side, this is a definite winner in the worst female doll category this year.

it took me a second to realize this dumpster fire was supposed to be Eva Green. I'm going out on a limb here and guessing that the "sculptor" didn't use a photographic reference, or if they did it was from TMZ and a long distance shot, at an angle with some sort of horseface filter.

I had this on my radar but not anymore. The absolute worst Triad head sculpt is miles ahead of this and that was years and years ago.

I don't get Star Ace. They had potential to climb to the top and fell off a cliff somewhere on the journey.
