Does that change anything?

Nope. It's all anecdotal. That's my point. There's no way to know how much damage TLJ has done to the franchise, beyond the current decline in toy sales, and until we see numbers from Solo, Episode 9 and the new Rian Johnson trilogy.

This thread really needs a figure announcement. Once paragraphs of replies start filling up a page, you know a thread is on life support.

I'm in my early 40's. I don't know anyone my age who liked the film. GenX reactions I've heard range from mild frustration to seething hatred. My wife hated it, and her friends at work who care about pop culture also made fun of the film. Family members I've spoken to didn't like it, either.

The only younger people I interact with are in my office. I have noticed that people in their 20's seemed to enjoy it. Thankfully, no one talks about politics in my office, so I haven't heard any heated debates about the film.

I’m 40 and almost all my friends range from early 30’s through 60’s. So your anecdotal experience isn’t really indicative of any trend.

Every single one of the TLJ haters who said they are done with SW- don't make me laugh. They will all be in their seats when Solo premieres-all of them.

I think the real test is Episode 9 release.

TLJ flattened the ST but not Star Wars. The Star Wars Universe is vast with many 'what If' plotlines for after ROTJ. I chose to view this new trilogy as a bad infinites tale. Others can view it as Canon.

Solo isn't going to be a real judge of how things will be moving forward. It's OT-era...that's always going to draw an audience no matter what. And because it's OT, people might be a little more forgiving, although that might not be the case with Solo since he's such a beloved character.

Like DT said above, episode IX is going to be the real test.

This is exactly right, for me at least. I’m very much looking forward to Solo because it’s set during the only period of Star Wars I’m interested in. The ST is dead to me, and I won’t be seeing episode 9 in cinemas as I just don’t give a damn about it anymore.

Personally, as someone who hated TLJ, I'll be waiting a couple of weeks before seeing Solo. I don't trust reviews anymore. If the fan response is positive, and I'm not seeing a lot of arguments online about political nonsense in the film, I'll pay to see it. I'm really hoping that Solo is like RO. I'm done with the ST, and the forthcoming Johnson trilogy is laughable. If the "story" films are consistent, I'll pay to see Star Wars every other year.

Im going to see Solo movie, i think the designs look great..has similar vibe to Rouge One. EpIX ? Dont even care.

I'm 40 plus years old and I like TLJ and I know 700 people from the 30-40 age group and 560 people from the 40-50 years group and so on!! LOL . Who really cares? There's people who like it and people who don't. It is what it is. Many buy the merchandise but many don't. What I find laughable is the people who they say there're done with SW and still hang out on the boards and talk about seeing other SW movies. Seriously though there are so many SW movies out there and more on the horizon so it's okay not to like one or two. For me TPM and Rogue one are my least favorite. Could never get over Jar Jar and outside Jyn and K2 I don't care a lick about the other characters. Trooper design were awesome though!!

Okay I need a Hot Toys SW Announcement!

There is new Rian Johnson trilogy? Wow. Those would be the first star wars movie I will 100% boycott. There is no way I would ever Support anything that moron directs.

Every single one of the TLJ haters who said they are done with SW- don't make me laugh. They will all be in their seats when Solo premieres-all of them.

I never understood the mindset. "I don't like 1 film, therefore I am done with this trilogy/series/director/etc". That's like saying I'm never going to watch Pulp Fiction again because Tarantino has directed some other movies that I thought were trash. All that does is close oneself off to something they may enjoy in the future. "RJ sucks I'm not watching his stuff ever!" Looper, Breaking Bad, Brick.. all pretty great.

The majority of the people saying they're done with it are going to be there the first week Solo, IX, and the new trilogy opens.

"Solo isn't going to be a real test!" No? It's a Star Wars film that both recasts an OT character which already pissed everyone off, and it's coming off of TLJ which apparently has scrunched many undies. Yet Solo has already doubled Black Panther's pre-sale tickets, etc.

Anyone that thinks TLJ is going to damage the Star Wars franchise is delusional. There's a very vocal group of grown ass men on the internet that are going to whine and complain about it every single movie that comes out to no end for the foreseeable future. Ep IX will likely break pre-sale records and some kind of box office record again. It's the conclusion of 7-9 and 1-9. Not to mention TLJ blu-ray sales broke tons of records as well. But I'm sure you guys think that's not an indicator either for some reason. The fact is that the "disney wars sucks my childhood is ruined, etc" crowd is much smaller than the vocal minority wants to make it seem like it is.

Most people that enjoy movies (or even if they don't), just see the movie and move on with their lives. It's just the outraged people that feel the need to comment on every thread of every forum ever how bad something is. This website, Reddit, etc.. you can't go into one topic regarding the ST or TLJ without at least one dude talking about how it killed Star Wars and it's pushing a "feminist agenda" or something ridiculous. It's like product reviews. A lot of people that buy something and are happy with it don't write reviews. Most of the people that have a terrible experience with something will.

For those of you "boycotting" and claiming you're done with Star Wars for good, I'm sure they'll miss your 12 bucks. But why not just take each movie one by one and see if it looks interesting to you? If you watch the trailers or wait for reviews and decide you don't want to see it, good for you. But IMO it's pretty childish to just swear off of a franchise or set of films because you didn't like one of many. But then again, some of you that are saying Disney is only making Star Wars for girls now and how much you hate TLJ are still here talking about it so...

Anyway, I think Solo looks like it will be fun, which is really all I'm hoping for. In terms of figures my number one hope would be Enfys Nest. I think they look pretty cool. Mudtroopers look great too. Though, I'd think if they were making them they would have shown some figures by now.

"Not to mention TLJ blu-ray sales broke tons of records as well." I'm afraid to ask but what blu ray records did it break?
