I would say that the RT user score seems to be in line with this thread at least :lol

I think people will always dispute were something does not line up with their way of thinking.. If TLJ has a bad user rating on RT does it not stand to reason that many of these same trolls would have crapped on TFA which has a good user rating.

I was going to say that I guess I'm just easier to please, but I hated AOTC and much of what the prequels gave us.

Everybody I know that saw this, loved it, but obviously I don't know hundreds of people.

Weird. I came out of this movie very happy, surprised so many on here feel so differently. Now I know what it's like to be a prequel lover.

The FO was the remnants of the Empire that retreated to the Outer Rims after the Emperor's death.

This was actually explained in BF2.
In the event of the Emperor's death, the Empire is supposed to enact a scorched earth policy in all their territories before retreating to rebuild.

ANOTHER reason to pay the $$$ for BF2.:gah::lol

Maybe they could have a note at the end of TFA and TLJ - "for more information on this story, buy BF2"

This thread is filled with Russian Trolls! :lol

Can't believe I actually saw some comparing this to AOTC. :rotfl

I was reading a few articles on my phone that said a vast majority of the negative ratings for this film were given by first time users, interpret that however you want, but ratings aggregators like Cinemascore, which only accepts ratings from people who have actually been verified to have seen the film, have given TLJ a rating of A.

Is the movie perfect? No

I honestly enjoyed it greatly despite a few issues, like Super Leia and hand puppet Yoda.

I think many of you just can't accept when a film takes turns you didn't want . I know so many of you Pre-visualized Jedi Master Luke's epic lightsaber battle over and over in your head. Sorry you didn't get what you wanted. Personally, I like it when a movie doesn't necessarily do the expected.

I went into this movie with a blank slate and came out quite happy.

What I find funny is that SW movies are all about a small, ragtag group of rebels standing up against the limitless power of the monolithic empire... yet people are so quick to jump on the Disney/Cinemascore corporate juggernaut's bandwagon and call those who dare to not like the product an insigificant group of "haters" who should be ignored.

The time to explain that was when the TFA begins, not two years later in a video game.

It was literally stated in the opening crawl.

Luke Skywalker has vanished.
In his absence, the sinister
FIRST ORDER has risen
from the ashes of the Empire
and will not rest until Skywalker, the last Jedi,
has been destroyed.

With the support of the REPUBLIC,
General Leia Organa leads a brave RESISTANCE.
She is desperate to find her
brother Luke and gain his
help in restoring peace and
justice to the galaxy.

Leia has sent her most daring
pilot on a secret mission
to Jakku, where an old ally
has discovered a clue to
Luke’s whereabouts . . . .

I took Rey's abilities as a balancing "echo" of Light Side powers that manifested in her as a result of Kylo's accelerated rise in the Dark Arts. Normally such abilities would project through the most receptive trained candidate but since Luke stopped spreading his knowledge and went "off the Force grid" nature had to "find a way" as Ian Malcolm would say and went with Rey. As for why it picked her that's where I think her own demeanor and temperament probably played a huge part which allows her to earn her rise even in the absence of training.

I guess it just goes back to how and why?? Where was the old republic and the rest of our hero's?? :(

How after the old empire was destroyed and everyone was celebrating did the galaxy allow this too happen.. Where were the EWOKS??!!!!!!

Much of the reason I threw that out there was in answer to the "Disney pays for good reviews" conspiracy theorists I constantly see bandied about on this forum. Kind of a tit for tat.

Anyway, I enjoyed it and will be seeing it again after Christmas. Will it hold up? I think so, but I guess I won't know til I see it again.

Red letter media is going to DESTROY this movie...........

You will cry

So very true lol

No reaction to my response to your "RO Vader" Luke question?? :tap

:lol

Oh that’s right :slap

I agree lol

I saw his Vader moment being Luke’s very painful honesty about the Jedi order and his suffering.

It will make watching his OT scenes have that much more gravitas now.

Hamill should be nominated for an oscar.

Hamill definitely went out on a hell of a high note with regard to acting.

That... is something you pretty much assume from the first frame of TFA (Empire was in ashes, something like a new Empire now present.)

I think what people here mean is some sense of HOW an apparently defeated Empire managed to reboot itself (and rebrand with a new name and logo,) not simply that it did - that's self evident.

After thinking about this for a day.... I actually don't mind that there was not too much info on Snoke. Initial disappointment? Yes, but it makes sense after the dust has settled.

Were you on a rock? :lol

It kind of ties up with Rey not coming from a special lineage. Rian was trying to re-enforce that anyone can have the Force. Not everything needs to linked up to someone from the previous movies. The Universe is vast and miracles pop up every day.

Man, that's almost as lazy as Luke Skywalker. It's like Johnson had no idea how to answer certain questions and said....anything is possible...the force explains everything and nothing, but hey...look at Kylo's abs!

Disney is altering the deal. Let's pray they don't alter it any further.

If they do, the force will be a plot device and an excuse for lazy writing, and characters will do anything without need to explain it.

The Last Jedi

Well just saw the movie, and won't post spoilers, but Disney just utterly ******ing ruined the franchise. what an abomination of a movie. Definitely won't be buying anything statue wise that comes out of this film :(

Rey just happens to be a Force prodigy, just like Anakin was back 100 years from the current timeline. In turn, why can't Snoke be a dark side Force prodigy as well equal to Anakin. Maybe he was a late bloomer that didn't get a chance to learn the Dark side during the prequel era. Given the Sith Membership club was pretty cut off.... 1 Sith Lord to 1 apprentice, Vader blocked any new Sith applications.

Snoke could have also searched a Sith temple and grabbed ancient texts. He didn't have to be trained by Palpetine. Just my 2 cents. Palpatine might have learned the ways of the Sith the very same way.

Only thing I hated about TLJ was the whole Finn / Rose story arc. That Casino scene was a waste of time, and was totally "give them something to do" territory.

I think its a 7 or 8 out of 10

Yeah, except Anakin had years of training, and until then could only apply his Force reflexes to pod racing.
Plus it's clearly implied that Anakin was the result of Plagueis and Sidious's experiments with the Force when they were messing with immortality. Some kind of Force Jesus.

Not developing Snoke is lazy as ****. He was clearly something incredibly special. They made him look like he could have broken Palpatine in half by snapping his fingers.

I have never been happier that we have books and comic books about Star Wars. Can't wait to learn more about him to make the pill a bit easier to swallow. Such a disappointment.
I guess people who liked Kylo from the start don't care, but I never bonded with this villain and was hoping for Snoke to compensate for that. And what they showed of him was awesome, except... well, he's dead now.
