Thanks for the great idea, Sankari. I'm gonna probably give him a bath this weekend. Are any of you guys contemplating trying to raise his height? He seems like he should be a bit taller. But as his ankle sockets plug into his boots, I don't think longer HT-type ankle pegs would help or even be compatible.

I used an ankle extension on him, he is taller than Gothmog now, which suits me fine

I pulled his pants legs straight down and rolled up the excess at the ankle, then pushed the boot on -- it doesn't lock onto the peg but the pants hold the shin firm. So he's gained about 1/2 to 3/4 inch I believe. See pic above relative to Gandalf height (top of Gandalf's head should be at Saruman's eyeline to be accurate so he's very close now).

Cool. I will have to try that. I figure he needs a good half inch to be correct.

Do the pegs come out of the boots? I'm not at home or I'd look.

I finally got batteries for the pedestal. I love the magnetic hatch! Great idea -- I hope this type of access is continued for light-up features.

The only problem on mine is that the hatch door is kind of loose when you put the batteries in? It won't close all the way because the batteries are too large. I do not think this was designed with the actual batteries inside first. :lol

The light-up function seems to work well -- love the glowing "stars" around the Palantir. However, I agree with whoever said there's a lot of spill around the base of the Palantir because it doesn't seat properly. Mine has a lot of spill -- because my Palantir is really oddly shaped. It's also very difficult to find the Cat's Eye (Eye of Saruman) inside mine. Does anyone else have this problem?

I may try to paint the edge of the "light stand" with some black to see if I can defeat the spill and focus more light into the marble. But I'm not sure what to do about the fact that my "marble" just doesn't have an 'eye' inside.

All in all though, it's a great extra -- one of the few extras I'll actually make permanent with its figure.

If anyone finds a good replacement marble, please share. There must be a 'cat's eye" marble out there somewhere.

Ok, modding story so far.
After a deep coffe bath on saturday, I decided that I wanted the two color pattern, and did some wash with Vallejo Puff (while I resumed my old GtW and did some coffee bath on the outher skirt and black wash on the bottom parts). The result was WAY too yellow for Saruman (pic outside my window, bioth figures fatsuited with soft wrap):

So I went with another coffee bath and some washes with Vallejo Dark Grey (deeper on the supposedly darker part: sleeves and collar) and here it is (under led lights), exactly how I wanted him:

This is more similar to how it looks in person:

He is made taller with some wrapping on the legs and beltless because I'm planning to replace it with a custom one.

Note that keeping the clothes wet all over the weekend weakened the tissue a lot (the inner layer of the robe in particular).

Nice work! I like the variation, much what I was looking for. I'm definitely going to try some paint washes to get that look.
But what does this mean below, the "tissue"?

Thanks. I mean the very thin gauze-like cloth that's the inner layer of the robe....it just tore on the shoulder seams (invisible from the outside).

Man they both look awesome. You did a great job.

Great work Sith, the colour of their robes is outstanding.

looks great sith!

Thanks guys! :)

Hi guys, I have some problems to replace Saruman head in place. I used a hair dryer to warm up neck and ball join but impossible to replace it... Whereas this trick is very usefull for other figures...
Some ideas ?

Its a KP04 muscle body, modified by Asmus, sometimes the neck comes off with the head, just have to be patient to stick it back up inside the rubber torso :)

Thanks guys. I may be biased (I really love the character and Sir Lee) but this is easily one of my favourite figures at the moment. Now I just need someone at his side on the shelf: Lurtz.:yess:
(And of course my mother did the belt...I'm no cut and sew guy)

Just received my saruman and, as everyone says, it's a wonderfull doll...
My only regrets is the palatir light effect... there's too much space between the sphere and the pedestal so there's a lot of spill where they meets togheter .. any thought how to fix it?

Yep, I believe several of us have the same issue. In my case its because the "marble" isn't really a perfect sphere -- mine's very uneven so its hard to find a place where it can cover the light. Additionally, my palantir doesn't have much of an Eye of Sauron inside.

But the figure is great, and that stand itself is awesome.
