here is another shot of vader. I hope you like them IMG_0112.jpg IMG_0111.jpg

Man, I've been wiggling this thing back and forth and even tried a screwdriver, but not budging at all

Edit: I think I felt it move :lol

Edit2: Success! Yeah, just wiggling will eventually break the bond. Takes a while and your fingers will be dead

Lots of helmets have been broken free tonight. Let's have a moment of silence for all the lost purity of the original figure....

*lowers head....*

OK, now let's see those cruel Vader eyes without the 'oh my gosh' brow line.

Quick photo. Sorry, no good camera, but maybe it looks ok. Still playing around with the fit and holding dome in place with some bubble gum :lol It really does lessen the shocked look in person

Mine arrives either Monday or Tuesday. In lieu of this I have a question. How do you undo the belt? Does the instructions that come with the figure do a good job of showing how to do it?

It's really easy. The clasp you want to undo is on the figure's right side of the buckle. Just take your time with it and gently jiggle it free. When I did mine I wasn't even sure what side it was, but I just wiggled it a little and it came off. I know some guys here ripped theirs trying to take it off, but just focus on that right side of the buckle. Maybe hold the belt it clasps onto down with your left thumb and use your right hand to undo the buckle. It's definitely easier than trying to undo your first bra strap. But similarly, take it slow and easy and you'll be just fine brother. Good luck.

I would suggest using some thing like a precision flat head screwdriver to wedge in between the buckle and the part that connects to it. Then twisting. This should pop it off.

Where myself and others have had problems is when you try to pull it off by the belt. The clasp is either too tight or has been stuck to the buckle by some glue overrun. This ends up with the clasp staying on the buckle and the belt tearing. Using the screwdriver to pop it off should work.

If you do end up breaking it, I posted how I fixed mine a few pages back. It's not ideal, but it works.

Wouldn't all these mods be better off in a modification thread?

Respect, but I think that is the best anh chest armor for this reason. Anh chest armor is totally different, and longer, than the other.
Absolutely not. All armors are basically the same. Only difference is that Prowse wasn't as buff in ANH as he was in ESB and RotJ, which made the armor hang more vertical than in the other movies.

The Kaiyodo has a better shape, but isn't accurate in other places. The SS ESB/RotJ armor looked just as accurate as the Kaiyodo, but the shoulder bells are dead wrong on all armors, so scratchbuilding those is required anyway.

Regarding painting the eyes - upper and lower inner eyebrow should be black, while the inner edge at the nose should be gunmetal. At the upper eyebrow, there should be an edge - depending on how accurate HT went - that front facing edge should also be black on the ANH.

About the modification thread I totally agree.
About the chest armor and the rest of the vader armor we can start a long dispute but I prefere to say that I'm a newbie about this and keep silent. :peace

Thanks guys. I do have a PC repair kit that has a very small flat head screwdriver. Knowing now which side the clasp is on is a big help.
I was trying to see if the latch was like a snap/button (round peg into a round hole kind of thing) or if it was more like a hook.

Well, it helps that ANH and ESB armor has been thoroughly compared and found to be near exact. Most if not all of the ESB armor is just copied ANH armor with some rework.

I've no doubt about the comparision, but I think that the more vertical appearance of the armor is not only due to the prowse buff. Probably a mix beetween these and the little rework done to the armor wearability. (sorry but it's very difficult to me to undertake a complex conversation in english even if I'd like to be able to.)
